This issue may have been fixed in the newest MCPF update.

Hi, thanks for all your work on this stuff, I was just wondering, with the new Mac Post Factor 1.0, is there any reason why it would not be working on a 2008 Macbook 4,1 (Core 2 Duo, X3100) ? It goes through the whole install installing Mac Post Factor install process (with Mountain Lion 10.8.5), but when it reboots, it just reboots baack into my normal partition, the same thing happens if I try and manually select the partition...

Did you use MLPostFactor?
An issue occurs during the MLPF to MCPF migration in the latest version of Macpostfactor. MLforAll will push an update asap to fix this problem.
Either that or it is not blessing the partition properly. Did you get a error log in your desktop?

Hi, I was using Mac Post Factor not Mountain Lion Post Factor, and it didn't bring up any errors. It completed the Mac Post Factor install process, and when it was finished it rebooted but back into my Lion partition - I tried to force it to boot from the right partition but it refused to. I tried it 3 times and the same result each time :(

Thank you for the new update MCPF 1.0.1 The installer looks great! However I've still been having a heck of a time trying to get ML to work on my Macbook 4,1. First time i ran the installer, I chose the USB method. It completed without an issue, but it's not patching the PlatformSupport.plist at "/Volumes/Install/System/Library/CoreServices/PlatformSupport.plist"

So then I tried just updating the failed MCPF v.3 install on my HDD to MCPF. I selected the "install without erasing" option, but it still wiped my entire partition. Also, when I try to install it on a HDD, it stalls out at "waiting for Administrator rights" I type in my password, but it still stays in that phase. It looks like it's adding files, but it adds them extremely slowly for some reason, and after 8 hours of leaving it alone, it was STILL "waiting..." I know I have one of the finicky systems, so if there is anything I can do to help you. Let me know. Which log file should I post?

Getting somewhere with MCPF 1.0.1 on a Macbook 4,1. Installation of ML worked and most (if not all) hardware works.

I did have the following issues though:
  • MCPF 1.0.1 to an USB stick still does not boot on a Macbook 4,1 even with the correct EFI selected. Install to local HD does work.
  • Connections to SMB (Windows) shares still fail: system.log reveals error "can't get gssd port, status 4"
Any thoughts about SMB? This seems to be a long standing issue.

Regards

Good evening. Decided to Test the relatively new MCPF 1.0.1 on a MacBookAir Original which is 3.1 . Must admit, I'm going nowhere incredibly fast and somewhat disappointed. Expected a big improvement over MLPF which is, easily, one of the most aggressive hacks I've ever seen. I'm stuck at the Start Line - Error 1 and, just for clarity, I've sent about five
different Mavericks and ML Installers to my Applications folder with no forward movement. And, all are legit. I'm running a Dell Latitude D630 w/ Core2Duo T7500 and Intel GMAX 3100 Hi-Res Graphics. Was hoping to enable the Acceleration
of the X3100 so that it would have 144MB of memory. Can't even get past the Start Line. I'd PAY to see the private Beta Testers who shook this App down. Any and all comments, positive or otherwise, will be graciously accepted. And, from Philadelphia PA , have a Goodday.

We'll make note of these issues in v1.0.2

FAILED - no Install of 10.9 using MCP 1.0.1 Beta Preview. Wow-w ! That last Poster was absolutely correct. The futility of this App is beyond words. Trust me. I'm beginning to believe that MCP cannot be used on Hackintoshes. I've Tested it on three (3) Dells and, goes without saying, 0 for 3. And, picked up an Adware bug that cut my Network speed in half. ThrowsErrors better than I can throw a Curve ball. This App isn't intended to do work, it's intended to attract attention. This site must be starved for attention. And, please - no User Error here. Been years since I've been a Noob. If I begin to believe that it won't run because I'm using a SSD, that's pure comedy. Just a shame any of this need happen. Don't blame me, my Code is on time.

I think this may be an hackintosh issue. What exactly is it doing? Is it showing an error or is it not detecting the installers in your Applications folder

We been testing MCPF on real unsupported Macs, not PCs. That could be the reason you are experiencing so many fails. What are the 'full' specs for your dell?

It IS a Hackintosh issue. However, your First Generation MLPF product had no problems functioning with its
aggressive excellence, and I assumed that this was an extension to enable Mavericks and Yosemite down this
same path. I have a Dell Latitude D630 w/ Intel C2D T7500 2.2 Gbs CPU along with an Intel GMAX 3100 1440 x 900
Hi-Res integrated GPU. I've perfected this brand of Hackintosh outside of flashing an Apple BIOS to replace the stock
Dell BIOS A19 . The DSDT and SSDT have been added to an Extra folder that has OS X running as seamlessly as it possibly can. Therefore, the MacPostFactor Beta Preview should detect this unit as one of its own. However, it first welcomes me with an Error 5 (just a disclaimer) and, then signals an Error 1 ( consistently with different ML and
Mavericks Installer Apps in the Applications Folder) . The sameformy other two (2) Dells. I find this rather awkward.
I was able to get MLPF 0.3 to run using Torrents. This won't even cooperate with genuine Apple Installers. The unfortunate thing is that , I have no quit and WILL find a way to get the Beta Preview to run. Once again - no User Error here. Have a very Goodday.

Attempted to create a 10.8.5 usb installer from MCPF 1.0.1 and a MacBook 4,1 would not boot from it. I get the folder with question mark, the system then switches to the lion partition and boots it.

Can I install ML over my Lion partition? I.e., just like how I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion on my MacBook 4.1? Or do I need to do a clean install of ML on a new partition?

Right now, my MacBook has one large partition. I don't even think it has a recovery partition, as I have never been able to boot into it. I once replaced my hard drive with a larger one and restored it from a Time Machine backup, and in the process I think I lost the recovery partition that was on my original hard drive.

I also am planning to install Mountain Lion via a bootable USB thumb drive. TIA!

I have a Mountain Lion bootable USB key. I do not have the .app file. How would I use MacPostFactor with the key? Can I copy the key disc image to my applications folder and then launch MacPostFactor? Thanks.

Off-topic on this forum, but this has long been answered for at Hackintosh sites. You won't get anything more on your D630 X3100 than real Macs owners do, i.e. you can only obtain graphics acceleration under 32bit mode ML with MLPF but nothing under 64bit-only Mavericks, Yosemite, etc. beyond FrameBuffer support (and X3100 reported with 144MB) as long as you install the 64bit GMA kexts from 10.6.2. That's it, that's all.

I am considering 'migrating' my 10.8.5 install from MLPostFactor to MacPostFactor, but how does one 'migrate'? Or is it just basically reinstalling using MacPostFactor?

Any idea how to install the latest security update 2015-005? It always fails. I've tried both ways (App Store and Combo) without success. :(

iMac late 2006
GeForce 7600 GT
Intel C2D 2,16 GHz
3 GB Ram

OS X 10.8.5 via MLPF

Hi, I would like to jump on ML on a Macbook 2,1, but does it have any hardware, OS X or update issues? I couldn't find any recent info about this.

Same issue here. I would love to get that final update installed; but thus-far I've had no luck. Tried the App Store, tried the manual download, and tried installing it via. ARD. No luck on any front...

It's reasonably important that I get this update installed if at all possible. So any help would be greatly appreciated. This is on old iMacs and MacBooks. Everything up to this point has worked well; but this last thing has been a real stumbling point.
