Incorrect CD-ROM detected

For some reason, I can't even get past step 1e of this process. No one has posted any errors in installing the Ubuntu OS, yet I've run into a brick wall. I'm in uncharted territory, so please forgive my blatant ignorance.

I'm on a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.6.2.

I've downloaded the Ubuntu OS from the link in the post to my mac desktop and I've now burned 3 different DVDs to act as the startup disk on the PS3:

The first is the original ISO disk image file before it gets mounted as a disk on my desktop.
The second DVD burn contained only the contents of the mounted volume that mac pulls from the downloaded ISO disk image.
For the third DVD, I dragged the mounted volume itself (with all its contents) to the DVD and burned it.

The first DVD containing the burned copy of the original downloaded ISO file was not even recognized by the PS3 when it came time to select "Other OS"
The second DVD got me through that and I was able to select my location and keyboard type. Only now I can't get past this message:

"Incorrect CD-ROM detected.
The CD-ROM drive contains a CD which cannot be used for installation.
Please insert a suitable CD to continue with the installation."

At what point did the CD-ROM become unsuitable? How did I even get this far?

When I try to abort the installation, it says aborting now may leave the OS in an unstable state. And the only instruction I've been given on how to return to the Game OS assumes that I've successfully loaded the Ubuntu OS on the PS3 in order to give that command.

Honestly, at this point the $300 blu-ray drive from MacMall is looking like the tastier option, considering that's what it would cost me to replace my PS3.

Any information would be most appreciated. Thanks!

disregard previous post

I burned the ISO image to DVD using Disk Utility and that fixed the problem. Mac users, do not burn the ISO file by dragging the ISO file to the DVD icon in the Finder.

5. On your Windows PC or Parallels machine, install and run Virtual CloneDrive. Then right-click on the bd-movie.iso file you copied in the previous step, select 'Open with' and 'Mount Files with Virtual CloneDrive'. At this point, the movie ISO should show up as a "virtual" local disk.

6. Open AnyDVD HD and let it do its magic. Follow the Blu-Ray to Apple TV thread for the remaining instructions on how to produce an Apple TV compatible movie file.
Would I be correct in thinking that these two steps are now removed with the arrival of MakeMKV on OS X?

I was wondering the same thing. Is it able to avoid installing parallels now using the osx software?

I am going to have a go at it next week after I free up some space on my HDD's so I'll come back an report then ;)

Correction to the guide.

As of the PS3 Firmware update of 3.21, Other OS has been removed. You will not be able to install linux and do any of these cool things listed on the guide.
