Hehe, it makes sense to me. It's going to happen anyway!

Not really, my nano is well protected and has no scratches in it. And I have it for 5 months already, taking it absolutely everywhere I go. :D

Ohhh, I know the feeling when you hit that button.
I just did it on a maxed out 20" iMac, gave me the shivers

whew, i'm glad im not the only one. I mean, I should have been happy since I've been researching it for so long but all I could think of was holy ****, $3500(!!!!!), what if it whines, what if its so hot that it burns me, what if the screen is bad ... what if what if ....

im better now though. cigarettes are a good thing :)

Tell you what though, the Apple store online says "now shipping in 24 hours" for the MBP! But once I ordered, the shipping date isn't till April 12th! That's 4 days? Is it significant? Think they're making a revision E? :) Or is it because mine is a maxed out BTO?

Have you added extra ram/pre installed softs? maybe that lowers the proccess.
So just like Mc Donalds, your order will come with a tag saying "Special" :p

Supersize me :)

Yup - I maxed out the RAM, changed the HD, got the 2.16 processor and pre installed iWork.

Why must I be weak too?!?!?!

YAY!!!!!

I think that's at least 5 of us who ordered today! Happy Bday to us.

Yeah... *cry*

I only got 1 GB of RAM though... I can get the other stick cheaper from Crucial (or others). I contemplated the HD upgrade to 500 GB from 250 but I have an external 250 GB HD right now with about 4 full backups of my Powerbook and still a lot of room to spare.

I'll race your MacBook Pro (in shipping)! :p

Hehe. The race is on! I'm going to post daily tracking info :p

I suppose I could have saved a few bucks by ordering from Crucial, but I didn't want to wait and mess with my new machine. And the way I see it, when you're in for $3400, well, $3500 doesn't seem all that bad.

How's your stomach? Mine has finally settled after about 2 hours. But I do NOT want to check my bank balance for a few days.

Silentpanda

I had to post this. So, I open up my email and voila shipping notification from APPLE. So, I jump over here and write up a post saying NYAH NYAH NYAH it shipped!!!!!

But, wisely, I went to the Apple page. And ..yeah it shipped ..

My .mac box and kensington cable

Hehehe

On a side note I already have a 20" flat panel monitor at home so I'll unfortunately have to deal with 2 20" screens... *sigh*

I'm hoping you're being sarcastic! Although, come to think of it, will your current screen match the look of the IMAC screen?

It won't match the look but they are both the same dimensions and resolutions... I'll get over it... ;)

Congratulations on the new computer, I think you're going to LOVE IT. Darn that's going to be fast; talk about an upgrade!

Oooohhhh Yeaaaaahhhh!!!!!

YAY!!! It's in the USA! Man, how nerdy is this. I'm in business school, in class, and I'm refreshing a site to see the progress of my personal macbook. Can you imagine a typical DELL purchaser doing this?

*happy dance*

Yeah, if you're clutz. I have a laptop that is 5 years old and there are no scratches on it. I'll take my chances and let any new equipment earn it's own scratches. I don't care about scratches, I'm more worried about failed hard-drives and fried mother boards. What do you do about those?

Maybe it would have been easier to get a apple credit account use that.

Then maybe spend the budgeted money in medium sized chunks before the interest comes? ;)

My MBP is on a truck about to be delivered!!!! YAY

THX1139

OK, so what do I do when it first arrives? Open it (duh) but I mean do I need to run any software? What do I check for to make sure its worknig properly? Anything else you recomend I do?

Oh - do I log in as an administrator? Or make two accounts? One admin and one normal to use every day?

Thanks

I would suggest when you open it to log in, play around with it for a few days, then reinstall the OS from the media given. This accomplishes a few things...

Since you know you are going to reinstall you feel more free to mess around.
It verifies that your install media works. There is nothing worse than your system getting hosed and trying to install from media that is corrupt. You assume it's the computer still but it's the media and you never get anywhere. Plus a reinstall takes less than an hour.

I would recommend making an admin account and a user account. Try to get used to having the two from the start.

Otherwise there really isn't much you *have* to do.

Congratulations on your Mac. Mine is still being checked over with a fine tooth comb by Mr. Jobs himself apparently... :)

Silent panda,

Yours hasn't even shipped yet? Not being snarky, just genuinely curious.

OK, so , when I do open this puppy up, how do I ensure everything is working right. Dead pixels, whining, screen etc. What do I look for?
