Sounds good but isn't the Torque Report subsidized by the US auto industry? Wow, I need a more scientific objective viewpoint :)

The original study that the story is based on was performed by Central Connecticut State University and the cost analysis was backed up by an independently funded "Dust to Dust" analysis that is often referenced by independent car reviewers and scientists for futher study of modern vehicles.

Please no Zune fone. I have a Zune and it's alright the way it is :)

I THOUGHT I'd seen your username somewhere else.

But gasp...a guy on mac forums with a zune? Sacriledge. Your opinion no longer has merit, because you have selected a non apple product!

No, just kidding, I have a zune too. I believe we've collided on ZuneScene.

Of course, remember I'm the official mac hacker for Zune on ZS.
But seriously I had to get the iPhone after i realized that I was going nowhere fast with Zune + Mac :) after nearly a year.

Ew, who would actually buy that phone ? OMG, that is by far one of the most ugly phones I have ever seen. I don't see why anyone would buy it. Not even going to talk about the price tag, I know its marketed towards those that $6000 is pocket change, which is fine. But man, even if I had that kinda money thats the last phone I would be caught dead with.

Yes, I agree. I would prefer death to ownership of that fugly fone :)

http://www.thetorquereport.com/2007/03/toyotas_prius_is_less_efficien.html

noteable points:

"In most real world applications the Prius only manages to achieve 45 mpg, which is not much higher than most subcompact economy cars (Aveo, Yaris, Scion)." (note that the Yaris and Scion use the same engine as the Prius, sans the motor).

"When you factor in all the energy it takes to drive and build a Prius it takes almost 50% more energy than a Hummer." (Bear in mind that while the Prius is a toyota, it only has an expected lifespan on the electric motor/battery system of 100k miles.)

That Connecticut uni research was debunked. It's based on like 40-year-old information about the battery production plants that are no longer valid in judging the Prius or its manufacture. I could list twenty sites rebutting it including the debunking ones, but you can find those easily enough on your own.

This whole thread is about as ridiculous as someone badmouthing the iPhone in an Apple store with a friend who is buying it; we've been fighting over cars to compare the iPhone to, foreign cars vs American cars, if the Prius is worth a damn, and splooging ourselves over the sound of engine revs. Come on.

Back to MAC RUMORS, plz.

rolls royce of cell phones though... not practical but damn expensive and nice to show off!
