Handbrake Difficulty - Movie with 99 titles

First off, thanks for looking!

I am trying to encode a dvd using handbrake. After the initial scanning Handbrake comes up with 99 titles for the movie, 77 of which are duration times within 2-3 minutes of the film.

I tried using 3 different titles, and each time the encode has the movie, but it is in the wrong order.

All 3 times the movie starts correctly, but then it skips about an hour into the film, then goes on past the credits and plays what it skipped at the end.

Any way of fixing this?

It is a Disney dvd
 
Sounds to me like you have an ARccOS protected DVD, which doesn't surprise me since it's a Disney title. Try ripping it to your HD first, using software that can deal with ARccOS.

Do any of the titles show up with the correct movie run time? Or are they all short clips?
 
Of the 99, 77 of them have movie times that are within 2 minutes of the actual time.

When i tried using MactheRipper it said the estimated file size was going to be 53 gigs.... :eek:
 
Hmm, I don't know what's going on. Try doing a main feature only rip. By the way, what version of Mac The Ripper are you using? 2.6.6?

What Film is this?

Is this Leatherheads?

You might need to use fairmount and DVD2oneX on Mac or AnyDVD on PC.

I hear the correct title is 33, for Leatherheads, and the disc was mastered with over 3000 bad blocks.

Yes, I am using MactheRipper version 2.6.6

And the dvd is Wall-E, I work where we get them ahead of the release date
 
I would try fairmount/dtox on this one ( or for that matter any one ) ... though I have not tried it.
 
I've also had more success with stubborn DVDs by using DVD Shrink under Windows. Not sure if that's an option for you or not. it doesn't seem to get phased as easily as even the latest version of MTR does.
 
Haha I have the EXACT same problem. I hope someone finds out what the right number is QUICKLY. The crazy thing is that the DVD is under 8gigs, so it has to be some kind of crazy mapping and the DVD was just filled with bad mapping to the scenes, then only the right one was mapped to the menu of the disk.

Also, the menus look like ***** on my 24in iMac when in fullscreen.
 
Yup, same problem here. According to Handbrake, WALL-E has 99 titles. For those interested, I've tried twice and failed. It's not Title 1 or 22.

The sad part of this is that it is easier to get a torrent of WALL-E in standard def, 720p, or 1080p, than to rip your own legally purchased copy. Much less time and effort, and available 2 weeks ago on the net.

Whatever happened to the iTunes Digital Copy that Apple was promoting? They could offer a standard def iPod version and a 720p AppleTV version on one extra DVD which would cost a whole 10 cents to manufacture.
Especially since WALL-E is a Disney/Pixar film ??

When will the media companies learn? Never is my guess.

I guess the 3 disc special edition DVD does have an iPod digital copy for an extra $8
 
The main title resides on 30. Just go to File>Open Source(Title Specific) and choose title 30. I was able to rip it fine... with just one snag... and a pretty big snag at that. The title rips with the audio sync off by -1 sec. Not cool. Any suggestions from anybody on how to get around this?

I've succeeded by starting the rip at chapter two... but that is a tishy fix. I want the first chapter. Any ideas?

Just picked up Wall-E...title 39 seems to be in the correct order on my DVD (single disc version). I could extract this using Handbrake, but had the same audio shift problem. To fix the audio, try extracting the video track, removing ~40 frames from the front (hold down shift and click right arrow 40 times, then cut), and "Add to Movie" the video back to the original file.

I noticed when playing the DVD on the computer, that if you manually rewind to the start, the movie will not play unless you fast forward it 1 second or so - my guess is that this is the audio shift problem.

My preference is to buy the DVD, make a copy for iTunes/Apple TV, then put the DVD back into the case and into storage. They sure make it a PITA. I am curious about the 3 disc version with an iTunes copy - what's the quality like?

Fairmount + DTOX then Handbrake to convert it to the correct format.

Handbrake can't handle RipGuard/ARccOS.

I bought the 3 disc Blu-Ray version of Wall-E. The quality of the digital copy included on the 3rd disc is fine, but not great when watched from a close distance on my MBP 15". I wouldn't want to watch it on a bigger screen, but I am sure that it would look fantastic on an iPod. Normally I would have liked to rip a better quality version, but given that the Blu-Ray was relatively cheap ($24 on Amazon), it is definitely ok.

Could you look up the bit rate? Does it have both a stereo and an AC3 track (Stereo & Surround tracks if you get movie properties in Quicktime)?

Total bit rate is 1586 kbps, and it only has a Stereo track.

Interestingly, I thought that you would only be able to play the movie in iTunes because of the DRM, but I just tried it and it works in Quicktime as well. It is an .m4v file. It doesn't play in VLC though.

Duh that was mentioned already:

ARccOS in the 2nd post

Fairmount and DTOX in the 5th and 7th post

Then you posted the same thing in the 18th

Anyway back to the topic.... and maybe some helpful info...

On the Mac the Ripper forums they are saying to use the Movie-only mode and then title 30, then use DTOX if you want to get rid cells 1 and 91. Several claimed success with this method.

Someone else there said they used Ripit, and it didn't show all 99 titles, but only abt 10 real ones and that the movie is title 7 in Ripit.

I can confirm that using MTR to rip title 30 only works fine. I didn't bother running it through DTOX to get rid of the two zero cells, and Handbrake still encoded it with no problems.

Now, if I could just figure out a way to rip and encode Shoot 'Em Up... Oh well, can't win them all.

I tried that already but it kept crashing DTOX, just like it kept crashing MTR. I'll give it another shot. If not, oh well. Thanks.
