Handoff/Continuity Working on Any Non BT-4.0 Macs?

I really am unsure, as when DP 2 installed and iOS 8 beta 2 installed, I got the notification on my 2011 MBP saying my iPhone was removed from Continuity, (I still see the setting for allowing HandOff etc on my Mac). However Bluetooth pairing isn't working between my Mac or my iPhone. But in the Messages app I now see that texts say (text message) unlike in DP1 where it would be green but say iMessage. Also on DP1 I had an occasion when I was receiving a text and it appeared on OS X and of course my iPhone.

It says Continuity Supported: No

It wasn't working for me in Beta version 1. But when I upgraded to Beta 2 on both iOS and Yosemite I got a pop up on my Air in the upper right hand corner that said "my iPhone has been removed from continuity" both devices restarted and handoff isn't working, nor is air drop, so I'm not sure what that pop up message was about.

What computer is this? It's weird that it shows BLE on but the others off. Makes me think/ hope it's a setting?

I am able to use SMS in the desktop Messages app but still unable to use handoff, answer call on my desktop or airdrop between devices. My system report says I'm good to go on Continuity yet the its will not work. Seems that Continuity coverage is only available for some in the beta as of this afternoon.

It's still buggy in the betas, so it not working when it's supposed to isn't that surprisng.

I am on a mid 2011 mini, Continuity Support says yes. But it does not work with my 5S or iPad, and when I updated this morning I got the same iPhone no longer connected continuity message everyone else gets, also I can not connect to the phone using bluetooth unless I have the hotspot enabled, but it still doesn't work even with that.

i got the idea that you needed BT:LE my Mac says its supported but no handoff and continuity it says No next to airdrop but i have used airdrop before on 10.9 without issues
Remember, before when doing file transfers through AirDrop, it ran over Wi-Fi. I'm thinking Mac to Mac might still work this way, however Mac to iOS (iOS uses Bluetooth) will require Bluetooth.
