Weird, I've run the update that was released tuesday.
It probably didn't take.

Likewise on both counts.I've got a mid 2009 macbook which doesn't have BT LE and says no to continuity. The text messaging part works though. I can send text messages via iphone to other mobile users!!

So I finally get the SMS texting feature from Continuity working and I realize most of my friends have iPhones...
What boot settings did you change? I have a 2011 macbook pro
In the event that the external Bluetooth adapters don't work, someone posted that they had success after replacing their 2011 MacBook Pro's wireless card with a card from a 2012 MacBook Pro. Here's the pertinent post.
Does your System Overview say 88 GB of RAM?
yeah, had to move some over to other system.
having 8 slots is nice

An incorrect phone name was the root cause I think. My MBP expected my phone to be called a certain name. This area is still a bit buggy.
Yeah I still cannot get it to work
Ah. Here I am still hoping that we can use a standard BT 4.0 USB module. Man, he was on earlier.
As of now no you can't thats been answered a lot on here. They may update that in future versions of 10.10 but as of now you can't sorry. Basically its looking for very specific cards (broadcom wireless/BT4.0LE cards) As of this DP there is no dongle that will make it work. realistically its not difficult to switch that card out at all (except mac pros they get a little tricky because pre nMP BT and wireless were 2 different cards) all you do is open your system and swap your wifi/BT card with a newer one. Right now the cards are going for ~$40.Ah. Here I am still hoping that we can use a standard BT 4.0 USB module. Man, he was on earlier.

Im still holding out that this might change by launch but probably not
That dongle is a mpcie-> usb adapter. Look at the chip on it, its the broadcom94322. its the same idea as what I posted just a smaller form. Thats all thats going to work on this DP.Actually, there is one working dongle. This one. Also, yeah, it looks for a specific one, so I though MacVidCards had modified a kext to 'broaden' the search. I have a IOGear dongle that uses a Broadcom chip 2 revisions newer than the one required for Handoff. My MacPro1,1 (Hacked Yose) has compatibility for the AirPort/Bluetooth without any major hacking (still needs adaptor) and my Late 2011 MBP can (and probably will) be upgraded to a 2012 card. I'd still like to wait and see what MacVidCard has, along with more people working on what defines a Mac saying Yay/Nay on a dongle.

nope did you see the chart in the OP?I have a Macbook Pro 13" mid 2010, will Continuity work for me? (I have an iPhone 5S so I know I'm fine on that end)
