This Pixel Fold costs exactly the same as a Samsung Fold, but with worse hardware and worse software (especially with how apps look on the big screen). I'm not sure who's getting this apart from YouTube reviewers and tech journalists. 😅
I might add that a folio case has saved my screen from damage more than once. I shudder when I see naked phones.I have had my iphone 11 for almost four years. It would be toast without a case. The number of times it has fallen out of my pocket getting in/out of the car is enough for me to know caseless doesn't work for me. I'd far prefer a basic case than the hassle and additional cost of insurance.
Seems just a hair fatter than the iphone 3g. It's definitely a thicc phone.Whether it’s the clamshell razor that folds open or this thing, I don’t think I’d like how thick these devices are when closed. I just don’t get it.
But hey, if it appeals to someone, more power to them!
But it is a phone and mini tablet in one. Therefore, it is honestly insane how thin this device is when folded. It is a true engineering feat. If it were just a slab phone then yes, it would be thick. But it's not.Seems just a hair fatter than the iphone 3g. It's definitely a thicc phone.
I remember when people were paying $199 for iPhone and saying they would never pay more. Now, it’s over $1k and it will eventually hit $2k. We are all addicted to these damned things. The $1800 is far more for the foldable tech than it is the storage IMO. A pro max is $1200 for the same config and this phone has an ipad mini sandwiched in between. Rumor is the 15 pro max will be more, too.
To be real, I wouldn't pay $1800 for any phone, but I also don't think it's a asinine intro price, assuming it doesn;t fall apart like some foldables tend to do after normal use. Keep in mind, pixel phones historically go on sale a few months in, too. By the time iphone 15 launches I'd bet this could be had around the $1200 mark, maybe less.
It is astounding to me that people still cannot comprehend the advantages of a foldable phone. It is a mini tablet and phone in one, that I can easily slide into any pocket. Is it really that hard for you to understand?A solution in search of a problem: im willing to bet the market for people who want a phone as big as an iPhone Pro Max AND who think a tablet “smaller than an iPad mini” is vanishingly small.
I mean, people's pockets don't care though lol. That was really my point. For some, the thickness of this thing is untenable. And that's fine. I don't see this particular device getting mass adoption, if for no other reason, the cost of entry. But it is a phone and mini tablet in one. That would mean our happiness is based on them. However, that's not my personal experience..We are all addicted to these damned things.
I will pay that for a foldable iPhone, but like we have now, slab phone, no way I'd pay that much. That’s what you will pay soon for a non-foldable iPhone
Don't limit yourself just to the apple ecosystem, you're missing out! I have a Samsung Flip 4, an iPhone 14 Pro, 2 Macs and 2 Windows PC's, and I never have a problem between them.Im probably in the minority here, but if I wasnt so deep into the Apple ecosystem, I would have bought this at launch.
I know some feel it’s dumb or just a gimmick, which I can agree with gimmick, but after playing with a galaxy fold for a few hours, I can’t help but love the concept folding concept.
Yass! I want a phone the rolls up like a medieval scroll. Call it the Yore Phone. Make the Yore Phone your phone.😉I think rollable would be better than fold screen.
I think that one is from the past?View attachment 2235469
Ah yes... the future
Lets see, bigger screen when you need it and smaller package when you don't. Makes sense to me!I'll never understand why anyone wants this. lol.
I don't wear skinny jeans, so I can't speak for those, but I've not had an issue putting any of my foldables in any pockets. I even have my Pixel Fold with me at the gym when I am doing cardio in gym shorts. I personally think it is more pocketable than my 12 PM was. It was way to tall and wide for my liking. To each their own though.I mean, people's pockets don't care though lol. That was really my point. For some, the thickness of this thing is untenable. And that's fine. I've been watching videos on this thing since I entered the thread. It's an impressive phone and am not trying to downplay that. But I am trying to be realistic.
Same here. I have an iPhone (work phone) and a Pixel 7 as backup phones to my Pixel Fold, and I use Linux, Windows, and MacOS on a daily basis.Don't limit yourself just to the apple ecosystem, you're missing out! Surely you are able to understand that there's a slew of usage cases here. You have made it clear the phone works for you, and I am in no way trying to convince you are anyone otherwise. Was just putting into perspective the thickness of the phone. It's rather thick, regardless of how we justify it. We live in a world where people lament the discontinuation of the mini due to its extreme pocketability, while some others wish things were thicker just to add to battery size.I don't wear skinny jeans, so I can't speak for those, but I've not had an issue putting any of my foldables in any pockets.
