Yes. With Time Machine back-up.

Wacom Intuos 4 Driver working
Adobe (CC) programs are working
Cinema 4D is working R14 + R15
Evernote is working
VM Ware Fusion 6

Moving the mouse during renders in C4D is fine now. No lagging (maybe that was just me though). I don't know - the code must have been well tidied up - and this is just the beta!
This is what Mavericks should have been like. Thats why all the programs are still woking I reckon. The code is just tidier. Everything feels much faster - more 'solid' (i know -whats he on about solid?)
don't ask me why - it just does :).

That annoying jitter when opening disk utility is gone.

Double tapping the window bar to make the current application bigger or smaller is ace (same as windows me thinks). Safari is is totally cool.

All in all I would recommend having a shot at it - just back things up first though.

I've got it running on my 13" rMBP (late 2013) which is my daily driver (I do have a full TimeMachine backup though).

So far, so amazing. Safari is noticeably faster. I love the aesthetic and am a huge fan of the new notification center/today screen. Sadly, I will be retiring Alfred since the new Spotlight Search is so good. I know Alfred is still capable of way more, but so far Spotlight has been able to do all of the tasks I used Alfred for. Sorry old buddy.

The only things that don't work are Little Snitch (supposedly a nightly build that works with Yosemite is available, but I haven't bothered) and VMWare Fusion 6.0.2. (Note: VMWare is offering a tech preview beta that works with 10.10). Luckily neither of things are critical for me.

All my other 3rd party add ons/extensions/services seem to be working. Fantastical, f.lux, iStat Menus, 1password and Fortinet's endpoint client (AV/VPN) are working fine.

alfred is better. if you type safa in alfred and immediately press enter it will open safari. try doing so in new spotlight. you have to write "safari", wait a couple seconds and only after that press enter. it blows.

I did it last night and ran it this am, and the only issue so far is the fact that I can't sync my numbers spreadsheet with my iphone. And I did not activate icloud drive as suggested by apple.

Just had a glitch where by the System preferences would not open or quit so I had to shut down my laptop with the power button.

After using DP4 for a few days and realizing it was a big step forward, I made the plunge on my daily machine and put PB1 on it. I made an image copy of the drive on to an external file system in case I regret it, but this is at least as stable as Windows would be for a new GA. :D

I'm tempted on installing Yosemite on my late 2013 rMBP. Since being a first Mac beta and reading all the precautions, I'll see how it runs first on my new 64GB SDXC from Samsung.

I installed the Public Beta on my home iMac, figuring if I ran into problems, I still had the office iMac and my MacBook Air to lean on.

So far though, it's running fine and I've had no problems. It's been very stable so far. I'd even say it's more stable than some non-beta 10.X.0 releases of the past.

Yup, it's my daily driver. At first I had made a partition for it in preparation, but after backing up my documents and music to either the cloud or an external HDD (not using Time Machine) I bit the bullet and just installed it over all of Mavericks. I love it. There are a couple of glitches here and there - Mail always opens at the bottom of your inbox, you get some unexpected crashes if you try to share something - but other than that it works more than well enough for me to get along. Very stable for a beta.

I downloaded it, but haven't installed it yet. I'm trying to decide between my MBP's HD or my external drive to be safe. I'll decide tomorrow.

Yes, but I'm also a college student, so the app that I use most every day is Pages and it has been working without issue for me. Plus I have a Time Machine backup so if anything does go majorly wrong I can just restore it and move on.

Got Yosi on my main system - Macbook Air - 2011 / i7 CPU / 4GB RAM / 256GB SSD - no major issues. Only issue is Microsoft Outlook (part of Office 2010 for Mac) loads but the main window won't show. All other applications in Office work perfectly, so had to go to Mail till this issue is resolved.

I'd strongly recommend using the external drive and preserving your normal OS installation. You never know what could happen and you do risk losing data having serious problems. Regardless, make sure you have current and proper backups no matter what you do.

Currently running Yosemite on my daily driver, a 2009 13" Macbook Pro. For the third year in a row I have seen increased battery life and an overall speed increase, this year especially on Safari.

Only major hiccup (other than the odd freeze)is with Mail, after adding an exchange account it crashes every time I open it. Not the end of my world as I don't often use the Mail app with OS X.

Following my experience I would recommend to anyone running a 2009 13" Macbook Pro.

I've installed on my main drive and the only casualty has been Mail which always crashes, haven't been able to use it since installing Yosemite. I do have other email clients so that is more of an annoyance than a calamity. Other than Mail though everything seems pretty good particularly given the age of my Mac, an iMac from 2007, the oldest machine I believe will actually run Yosemite.

Other software I've tried works such as MacSoup, Unison, ReadKit, Day One, Firefox, Opera and Chrome (although I haven't used Opera and Chrome much).

Initial impressions, particularly for a beta are pretty good. I do accept that my machine can be hosed at any time though and it would be my fault if that does happen.

I installed the public beta Yosemite as my main OS X the day it was released. I have an Airport Extreme Time Capsule/Time Machine backup available in case there were any issues.

Now I had tried the first Yosemite from my developer account and had put that in a partition, and while it looked interesting, the partition wasn't big enough to do much with it. I mainly used it to get a feel for the look. I deleted that partition a week later.

But this is a very (for me) smooth and useful OS with no known issues (yet).

At first I was not going to make it a daily driver, but after installing on an external USB HD and doing some testing, I made a backup of my SSD and upgraded it to Yosemite.

Tested many of my apps and no issues.

The only real issue is that after sleeping overnight it can't find the Magic Trackpad in the morning on wakeup. Reported the issue.

I do. My computer is more for web browsing, listening to music, light gaming, and documents creation.

It is actually working great for me. A few bugs here and there, but overall a good experience so far.

I backed up my data prior to installing 10.10, and for most new items, they are saved to my Microsoft OneDrive, so if something goes horribly wrong, then I can install back to Mavericks and damage will be at a minimum.

I know the risks involved with putting my beta on a daily driver, and have contingency plans. None of my apps are broken, and rather than whining about bugs, I am sending timely feedback to Apple and any app developers.

The only major app issue is the icon in my menu bar for OneDrive disappearing when dark mode is activated. You can still click the empty space and get the options, but the icon is not there.

I just want Yosemitie to be the best it can be before launch.

Chrome vs Safari

Everyone seems to be raving about the speed of safari but for me Chrome feels snappier. I have Yosemite installed on an external HD with USB 3.0. Do you think if I installed it on my main HD it would be different speed wise?
