Easy, type a little in Notes, hit home button, open safari, search for related material, hit home button, open notes.

Its not as hard as people make it out to be.

Would not it be easier to use something that can handle this with less hassle? Why to suffer? What if you want to keep instant messenger running?

My point simply is that good netbook would work much better for this particular purpose (in class).

Busted out my iPad today before class started to check but of course macrumors ;). Then proceeded to have a swam of classmates around me like "omg is that an iPad!?!?"

I'm probably going to keep taking my netbook to class. Easier to deal with in all aspects.

How pleasant is reading a text book on a netbook? My guess is that it is not very fun. I don't think the iPad is a "undisputed" perfect companion for students. Im just saying it is definitely usable.

Imagine being able to hold all your notes, books and lectures on one device. Then in between classes, being able to watch a movie/tv show, or read a magazine, or a comic book.

Multitasking will come to the iPad eventually.

Agreed, but a netbook isn't even necessary - just a 13", 4 lbs. laptop (nothing to carry around in a backpack).

I know this is semi-unanswerable but I'm about to start an MBA program that requires all students to 'have a laptop' and to 'make sure it is compatible with our network'. It is a foreign University and while the classes are in English, nobody in administration or the IT department seem to speak more than three words of the language.

Anybody have a guess as to whether or not this will qualify as 'a laptop that is compatible with our network'?

Also you guys all suck, I had to pay more than $800 for my 16GB in a black market plaza. They wont be available here from Apple until 'later this year' - probably some dude smuggled this one over here in his suitcase lol

Yes those guys with Ferrari's are all wasting their money, a Mercedes would do just fine. Hell they could even get rid of the Mercedes and go for a new Honda. Screw it, a used Honda. Why not just get rid of that and drive a Vespa, actually? No wait, even better, public transportation!!

...and that analogy makes sense because a laptop is less powerful than either a netbook or iPad?

You don't want to use that as your college laptop.
Have fun typing your thesis on it.

Used it in class yesterday and a couple asked me if it's the new iPad lol. I get that a lot especially when I'm studying at starbucks.

You drive a Toyota Corolla, don't you?

haha, I kid...just saying, it seems like productivity wasn't the reason why people buy iPads over netbooks..it's the fact that it's cooler than a netbook.
