Thought this would be a good time to see how that new iPad Pro is doing for you after the initial introduction and ‘honeymoon’ period.

Can't say at first I was truly excited to be getting my new 2021 iPad Pro 11” (the vanilla flavor compared to the 12.9” ;-). It was more relief to be upgrading from my hardware problems with an iPP 10.5”. But, now that I've had it for a time, I'm finding I'm appreciating it for its speed and all-around refinements. This is what I have a very portable device for in every way. It may not have the ‘WoW’ factor of the 12.9” XDR screen, but just rock steady with improvements. More excited with use every day. And with WWDC almost here, maybe something it be more excited about.

Nope! I still love mine!

Surly not, what about the extra contrast ? deep oled like blacks ?

That's not really apparent when reading ebooks, browsing MacRumors or shopping at Amazon, Best Buy, etc.

I prefer dark text on light background and intentionally reduce contrast so the display isn't too blinding. At night, it's usually at 0% brightness with Reduce White Point enabled.

Ahh, tinkering with the settings, that explains it, I leave my accessibility display settings how they are, the extra contrast and deep blacks is definitely noticeable to me in safari in light and dark mode and across the whole OS.

Loving this gorgeous screen, massive upgrade, without the drawbacks you get from oled,

Every year we get the same threads in the iPhone forum regarding oled panels, yellow screen, green tint, off axis color tint, display uniformity darker at one end or more yellow at one end of the display, and the list goes on lol.

This is the main reason why apple went with mini led.

Once micro led is ready, oled won’t be around for much longer after that.

Not for me, it’s my first iPad Pro and been using it to do all my video editing and voiceover work and I keep thinking how much easier it is now vs. when I was using a computer. I am beyond happy with my purchase.

Another love, hate, thrill, bloom, bend, shadow, return thread ?‍♂️?

Still loving mine, it’s a keeper that’s for sure.
I'm not asking this in any negative way. Sorry that may have not come through. I'm thinking positive. I'm actually more ‘thrilled’ now as I use this device more each day. Coming from a iPP 10.5” (still all I needed I’d thought), I didn't expect I’d be so happy I did the deed.

First time with a 12.9 ipp I initially thought “this is too much” “why did I buy the keyboard” “this is too big”

As I’ve used it I now realise that I thought all that because I was trying to use it like my 11” ipp and it critically is not a replacement for a smaller iPad. Instead I use the 12.9 as a replacement for my 13”MBP, which has become a ‘desktop’ of sorts and the 12.9 ipp goes everywhere with me, with its keyboard and pencil. It’s not too big at all, they keyboard is great for emails and the like and the screen just rocks… I probably didn’t need the pencil… or maybe I haven’t found the perfect application for it yet…

I am very happy I upgraded from the 11” to the 12.9”, that was something I was concerned about, but after a little getting used to it and using it slightly differently I’ve decided it’s the correct decision… 100%

The original 12.9 inch (1st and 2nd gen) was the real big thing. After Apple made the bezels much smaller in 2018, the size has become much better and it’s much more practical to use.

Havent had to use my laptop for much since I got it. Loving it so far, could use a 4k screen for the Netflix tho haha. The 1080p max Netflix streaming size is balls.

Interesting. I remember testing before and Netflix used to allow 1440p streaming on the 12.9" iPads.

WWDC is going to to be the make or break event for many people IMO, that event will decide if this iPad is a marginal upgrade or a huge one.
