I started a return; if wwdc doesn’t make the iPad amazing it’s going back
I do the same thing and much prefer Reduce White Point to Night Shift. Even during the day I keep the brightness between 25-40%. My eyes are much less tired doing it this way compared to using dark mode.That's not really apparent when reading ebooks, browsing MacRumors or shopping at Amazon, Best Buy, etc.
I prefer dark text on light background and intentionally reduce contrast so the display isn't too blinding. At night, it's usually at 0% brightness with Reduce White Point enabled.
WWDC is likely going to offer a reasonable iPadOS update that is compatible with 2GB iPad models with A10 processor and up which means the real upgrade for M1 iPad Pro users will come from Developers. The truth is, for anyone with a 2018 and up iPad Pro, the M1 is a marginal upgrade at best because the software side which is unlikely to change. The RAM upgrade and screen are not nearly enough to warrant upgrading from a 2018 iPad Pro. I’ve seen enough videos comparing 2018 to 2021 iPad Pro opening apps and running different programs to know there’s not much different at this point for most any apps used outside of heavy video editing.I started a return; if wwdc doesn’t make the iPad amazing it’s going back
Interesting. I remember testing before and Netflix used to allow 1440p streaming on the 12.9" iPads.
I agree RAM and screen isn’t enough to warrant an upgrade, but videos comparing 2021 iPP to 2020/2018 iPP models… doesn‘t really tell the full picture. I’ve said this plenty times… iPadOS in it’s current form was not made with 2021 iPP in mind. We are judging the 2021 iPP unfairly, which I can’t blame anyone…. Apple has released this hardware before the software.The RAM upgrade and screen are not nearly enough to warrant upgrading from a 2018 iPad Pro. I’ve seen enough videos comparing 2018 to 2021 iPad Pro opening apps and running different programs to know there’s not much different at this point for most any apps used outside of heavy video editing.
Hmm… official release won’t be until September, but iPadOS 15 beta will be available on the day of announcement… well for developers .Sad that any excitement for ipadOS will be squashed next week as it won't be released until September. Day one owners will have to wait 6 months to realise any extra potential if any - even then developers will still be behind. Glass half full day.......
I would recommend not getting your hopes up.Ram cap will be removed once iOS 15 drops ?
I canceled mine because regardless of what happens at WWDC I looked at the price difference between a MacBook Pro M1 and the top of the line 12.9 inch iPad Pro. I could not justify the iPad because of MacOS full functionality over the iPadOS. Good luck to everybody else.I started a return; if wwdc doesn’t make the iPad amazing it’s going back
From the bright side, you still have something to look forward to. I'm sure most people will be satisfied with their iPP, so take any negativity you stumble upon here with a pinch of salt and get hyped.Worn off? I am still waiting to receive mine!
Sounds like a problem with Goodnotes. I have used Notability since 2017 and never have reload issues like that. Even when I switch between Notability, PowerPoint, and Safari. None of the apps reload.Not at all, having more memory has been a godsend vs the 2018. No more reloading Goodnotes every time I swap apps, no more random appcrash when I'm trying to copy/paste an image.
Easily saving me 30-45 min a day in hassle.
Yeah the pricing is a bit obscene at this point. You're talking about a 12.9" tablet that when you max it out, purchase a keyboard, and the Pencil to utilize the full capability, you're at $3,000 with tax (in Tennessee). That's just ridiculous. You can literally get a MacBook Air maxed out with the same performance and an 11" iPad Pro with Pencil for the basically the same money. What I don't understand is Apple forcing you to purchase 1TB or 2TB options to get 16GB of RAM when you can order an M1 MacBook Air with 256GB and 16GB of RAM, which is what I did.I canceled mine because regardless of what happens at WWDC I looked at the price difference between a MacBook Pro M1 and the top of the line 12.9 inch iPad Pro. I could not justify the iPad because of MacOS full functionality over the iPadOS. Good luck to everybody else.
Veterans discount included, plus tax. What angered me was the requirement to have 1Tb storage in order to get the 16 GB memory. MacBook Pro or iMac 24 inch will come with 512 GB storage
$ 1,894.00 MacBook Pro
$ 1,991.00 iMac 24”
$ 1,636.03 iPad 11”
$ 1,924.93 iPad 12.9”
Smart move! As @GuruZac points out.. the best value is MBA/MBP.I canceled mine because regardless of what happens at WWDC I looked at the price difference between a MacBook Pro M1 and the top of the line 12.9 inch iPad Pro. I could not justify the iPad because of MacOS full functionality over the iPadOS. Good luck to everybody else.
Apple has never made the iPad configurable only through color and cellular support, which I can understand why there's no way to add 16GB RAM on any storage tier.What angered me was the requirement to have 1Tb storage in order to get the 16 GB memory.
I canceled Netflix because of this.Same here now. Back in 2019 though, I was getting 1440p on my 12.9 2nd gen.
Why? Is Apple somehow not allowed to continue to evolve the OS and feature-set beyond this year's WWDC announcement?Depends on WWDC announcement which is the make or break moment.
LOL. Because of ONE announcement? An announcement that came only a few weeks after the product even launched? You're literally going to judge the overall success of the machine on the first of what will certainly be many upgrades/revisions over the coming years?I started a return; if wwdc doesn’t make the iPad amazing it’s going back
Because now iPadOS is just a big iPhone it’s not right for the iPad if they don’t evolve the iPad now it’s not worth it for me; just to go on Facebook and YouTube, most people get it like I did as a luxury device that they don’t need, I use my 16” MacBook Pro for all my pro workLOL.
