Has the new P30 Pro made the iPhone obsolete?

People who post on forums don't matter to phone manufacturers. Apple could make a phone that was a paperweight after a year and it would still sell well. Brand loyalty is a very powerful thing.

OnePlus makes arguably the best value Android phone, but the vast majority of people would never order a phone they couldn't see in a physical store. Things may change now that TMobile offers them in store. Apple doesn't make phones for power users or tweakers, and probably never will.

Brand loyalty doesn't last forever if the prices remain high or get higher. If anything the average user just doesn't upgrade

It's not a binary situation though. Consumers don't fit neatly into "serious DSLR user" or "teenage Instagram poster."

Being able to take low light photography in pubs or using 10x zoom during a sports event benefits a lot of people.

The features are impressive and something I would like to have on a my phone, I won't lie. If these features were on a Samsung phone then I'd be more likely to switch. I don't think I would buy a Huawei phone. I don't like their software. I prefer Samsung.

DSLR prices are very reasonable now days. An affordable Canon or nikkon will kick 6 different kinds of dog crap out of even the best phone camera. For the Instagram crowd, all they care about is a bunch of cool filters. Point being, no one who is serious about photography reaches for any phone.

I always have my phone with me but I'd have to go out of my way to bring a camera with me. As a result I'd only take it out to special events and thus wouldn't be able to catch some of the more spontaneous moments.

I don't even look at cameras anymore, I sold an older dslr last year, I dont think I'll bother with on again.
Most people use phones now, sure, the results will be better with a camera, but not necessarily on auto.

It's like if I made a new computer that was for arguments sake 50 percent faster than anything made by Intel or AMD. The problem is it's locked with some hardware system to only run Linux. It can't run Windows or Mac OS at all, no VM no Bootcamp, nothing but Linux. Sure Linux users would jump all over this but how many Windows or Mac users would buy it. It's the same thing when you're talking phones. Just because Huawei makes an awesome phone that doesn't mean iPhone users will flock to it. Android users might so it will take away from Samsungs sales for example.

Samsung reported a down quarter, so what you say about the competition eating Samsung’s lunch may have some validity.

Some apps will run better on Huawei P30 Pro and others will run better on the iPhone. Depends on which app you want to use or compare. One advantage that the Huawei P30 Pro has over the iPhone is that having a dual Sim card allows you to install two apps to each number which is great. The other great option is just like on the MacBook Pro you can have two different user accounts where two different users can use the same device. Like having two phones in one

Unless you are a professional photographer shooting professional images that you charge people for you really don't need to spend 3-4K on a DSLR Camera. They are great cameras but for everyday use what comes in most high end smartphones today is good enough. I took these two pictures in a pitch black dark room using my P30 Pro. I thought picture was great using night mode.

Something popped up today on my Huawei P30 Pro which pretty much was a no option update. I had no choice to not accept unless I no longer wanted to use the Huawei web browser. Needless to say the privacy invasions or permissions requested were beyond mind boggling. The browser pretty much wanted access to everything in order for it to work. This is just page 1 too. The more you scroll down the more you see.

That’s just one of the features or trade-offs of using android versus iOS. You give up some privacy and security for a bit of functionality.

It is OK as a second phone that you don't store anything on. Pretty much a good second dummy phone for good pictures and anything you don't care about. The iPhone is more secure and safe in my opinion with much better privacy controls.

Are you not on Android 10? I am able to control Permissions on mine.

Can control after but you must accept first which means and tells you not to trust those self controlled permissions. Key point is you must accept first

Does this not apply to Social Networks and other OEMs to? I’ve seen similar on Samsung devices at first setup.

I feel as though they could have pushed this update as part of Security Update and never disclosed it if they were up to no good.

Interesting times we are in anyway.

Possibly.. I am not sure but I think they straight out told us what they were doing. My P30 Pro is great and works great but privacy and security wise I trust my iPhone more. Each smartphone has its advantages over the other. Privacy and security wise I would say iPhone over Huawei's P30 Pro but on other things I would say that Huawei's P30 Pro has some advantages over the iPhone.
