I'm not sure if paying the extra $13 does anything for people. I ordered on the 24th with standard shipping and I'm scheduled for a 4:30pm delivery on the 5th. Save your $ people.

I ordered BTO on the 25th, and delivery is 10:30am on the 2nd. I paid the extra $13 and got a 2-day benefit.

Mines is shipping also

Our mac's are on the same flight. It's once they get to the states before expedited shipping kicks in I guess. Apple usually doesn't have expedited shipping methods on new products.

I guess mine is on that shipment also. Wish they would put to air. I'm scheduled for Nov 5 but would like it before the weekend. Possible if it flys tonight.

Well, not going to arrive before the weekend. For some reason, my mini is doing a Asian tour instead of coming my way.

China-Hong Kong-Taiwan-Japan-?

I thought it would be like China-US

Has anyone had their mini take a more direct route to the US, or is this the norm?

Mine is at the destination sort facility as of 7:10 this morning local time. It's due to arrive tomorrow but sometimes "at sort facility" means it will make it onto the truck today.

Picked up Oct 30 at 9:30 PM (Eastern Time, not local time). Same flight as others, but it didn't show any updates until this morning.

In my experience, stuff ships just as fast without Express Shipping. If it was in China Tuesday night and is in my hands Thursday or Friday morning, that's pretty much as fast as possible and well within what they promise for Express. Your mileage may vary, of course, especially if you don't live near a city that gets direct flights from a major Fedex hub

Mine: China --> Hong Kong --> Memphis --> Toronto (where I live)

Never had anything go through Taiwan or Japan or indeed any country but China, Hong Kong and the US.

It's really your fault, you know. You never should have ordered it with a Godzilla drive and Hello Kitty screen saver.

Mine is on the FedEx vehicle for delivery, a full day before promised. It has taken one week to the day for this to be built and delivered.

In the same Airplane ;)

Mine's taking a vacation in Japan as well. I ordered the Cosmopolitan upgrade.

There was a day when, if you lived in Memphis, you'd get everything from FedEx next day regardless of what you paid for. Then they started holding packages in their warehouse to deliver on the scheduled day, but you could call and pick your package up if you were too eager to wait. Now I guess they're sending your package on the grand tour instead. :p

I'm impressed with FedEx. I was following this package closely online. It went from HK, to Memphis, to Dallas, to my local office. But it still showed delivery scheduled for tomorrow. I called the toll-free number this morning to see if it was actually going to be on a vehicle for delivery today, or if I could pick it up at the local office. They said it still had not cleared customs, but they would know more later in the day and would be glad to call me with the disposition.

Within the hour, I checked online and the package was on the vehicle for delivery. Shortly after that, I got a call from FedEx confirming that. Good customer service.

out of curiosity - does anyone know if its quicker to order a BTO for pickup at my local Apple store? (I live a 10min drive from my Apple Store) - this is assuming the shippers would go earlier to a retail location than residential one...just hoping. *lol*

They are going to Japan for the final process of the radioactive fusion.

I don't think it will let you pick up in store.

Sure, when I get to it. I am still restoring Time Machine backup...30 minutes to go!

Could you run Blackmagic Speedtest? (free in the app store). I'm curious to see where new files are located. SSD? HDD? I'd expect it to put them in the SSD first therefore get SSD speeds on the test.

OK. I also have the paid version of Geekbench 2.0. I'll use that to compare the 2.6 GHz quad core i7 to the old 2.4 GHz dual core C2D.

Nice. It'll also be nice to see -in case the test runs on the SSD- if you achieve 430MB/s in writing. I say this because all previous 128GB SSD drives in Mac computers were Toshiba therefore no sandforce controller. This led to 250MB/s writing speed and 430MB/s reading speed vs the Samsungs drives which offer 430-430MB/s.

thought you can't do a time machine restore on a fusion drive?

I'm 15 minutes away from proving that wrong. It recognized the USB 3.0 hard drive without issue, and allowed me to select it when picking my Time Machine backup (I also have a Time Capsule, and it recognized that, too.)
