LOL.... I spent my first day with my M9 shooting with the lens cap on... it is new and exciting! you'll get to know it well and get posting some images!

Check out: http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/48-pentax-medium-format/274844-dngs-upside-down.html

Menu - Image Capture Settings: There is the checkbox: 180 degree rotation info. This needs to be unchecked, no matter if DNG or PEF is the raw format.

Hope that helps...

Hahaha -Fantastic! A hearty cheers for that Kenoh

If my Mamiya sat on the shelf for any amount of time I would do that same exact thing. It got so that I ended up making a black tape butterfly on the lens cap so that I would always see it in the rangefinder if the cap was left on.

If by 9th Ave you mean Prospect Park West then your brother lives just around the corner from me. I'm in Prospect Heights. Look me up when next you're over. My parents just retired and took their first trip over to the U.K....or the E.U. depending on how the Irish vote.

Cool watch out, you may get a crazy brit buying you a beer at somepoint!

Yeah they call it Park Slope so I suspect they are bigging it up a bit??? Amazing house they have. Is it a walkup you call it? they have a 3 bedroom house that they rent out on the first two floors of their building, then their house that they live in, is the remaining 3 floors of the building above that. Amazing properties there.

Curtains closed...more than enough of those moments than I care to remember. My rangefinder technique was sorely lacking so ended up doing more landscape with it than anything else.

If only it was digital? Not sure I get the joke (unless there is a meaningful difference between a captial Z and a lower case z - in which case mea culpa )

Manufacturer description: Featuring an amazing 51.4 megapixels on a high-performance CMOS image sensor, the PENTAX 645Z assures super-high-resolution images with a stunningly realistic sense of depth combined with vivid colors and rich shadow detail. The resulting images feature a uniquely distinct look and an unmistakable brilliance that clearly differentiate professional photographers to their clients. The thoughtful inclusion of a CMOS image sensor enables live view on a tiltable LCD panel while also making the 645Z the first and only camera in the medium-format category to offer video recording capabilities, resulting in footage that captures amazingly lifelike reproductions with tangible depth and incredible dynamic range.
Pentax? I meant the Fuji and thought you forgot to put the "i" on the end.

I don't need Pentax's Press release, it's the usual hyperbole.

Anyone know why / have thoughts on, the aperture being so silly on those 2 lenses they released though? They both seem to open to like f/4 or f/5.8 or something at the MOST.... Whaaaattttt? I must be misunderstanding or something because I dont know medium formats that well

Medium format is very different format compare to 35mm cameras. F4 in medium format is around F2.8 or F2.4. F2.8 is somewhat F1.4 in 35mm. Yeah it has disadvantages for aperture due to the size but in day light condition, it's totally fine. X1D is a small mirrorless camera. It requires small lenses. Also X1D can use the adapter for H series lenses.

f-stops are ratios between the diameter of the lens opening and the focal length and so describe the amount of light reaching the focal plane. The ratio of light at f4 is no different whether we are talking about 35mm, medium format, or large formats. Generally speaking a faster lens design requires more glass (and so both weighs and costs more) You tend to see a lot of lenses for larger formats starting at 4.0 or 5.6.in order to make the lenses practical in terms of both size and affordability.

I think Mavericks' comment pointed to the equivalence of f-stops on the basis of them having the same depth of field at those f-stops (as the depth of field at a given aperture depends on the focal length).

I meant to reply to shipdestroyerrr...tried to modify the quote to reflect that but it didn't save the changes I guess....attempting to build on the back of what Mavericks was saying (and to clear up what I figured could easily be misconstrued)
