I have the iPad Air 2 and have no desire to upgrade. I'm waiting for a major update before getting rid of my iPad Air 2.
Oh I know this well, Man that 5K iMac looks really nice right now...meh I'm going to keep saving for that rainy day that you can never predict.Motto in life. You can afford it when you can afford 3.
If you have that £/$1000 keep it till you have 3.
20's I was very spendy. 30's I'm frugal in all aspects of life. Older and wiser maybe but savings are good for a rainy day, unexpected life events, job loss. Debt is never good I have no debt bar a mortgage.
In the end it's just a device for web viewing. As a scociety we are trained that consumerism is good, we spend so we are. Guess who profits from your now empty/minus funds bank account. It rarely brings long term happiness.
Just because you can doesn't mean you should.
IPad Pro 2 coming December 2020Very happy Air 2 user who has zero desire to upgrade right now but I'll definitely be picking up the revised Pro whenever it finally releases.
You can say that againI'm not gonna get another tablet with 2GB RAM.

I keep saying iPad but uhhmmm Surface laptop was tempting... and now they have another event on the 23rd of may if it's a surface 5 with good battery life it might be really hard to resist just because it's sheer capability but at the same time it's Windows which can be so "yuck" sometimes so I'm conflicted big timeAir 2 still performs perfectly. No necessity, for me, to have bigger battery.
Shall not be tempted until next 12.9" - and then only for PDF reading, so not in a hurry.
I am not familiar with the surface book but have a surface pro 2, which I needed to run one windows legacy item. It was ok but the iPad was a smoother less clunky experience. The surface forums were, last I looked, awash with comments about bugginess, especially after windows 10. Imagine its been sorted out by now. I no longer need the windows software.I keep saying iPad but uhhmmm Surface laptop was tempting... and now they have another event on the 23rd of may if it's a surface 5 with good battery life it might be really hard to resist just because it's sheer capability but at the same time it's Windows which can be so "yuck" sometimes so I'm conflicted big time

I cannot see how anyone would rid themselves of an iPad Air 2 for the new iPad. Back to a non laminated display? Thicker? Really just seems like a backward step to me, regardless of the A9 chip. Surely it's wiser just to wait a bit if that temptation occurred.
of course it is ive realized it 5 minutes after making the postI cannot see how anyone would rid themselves of an iPad Air 2 for the new iPad. Back to a non laminated display? Thicker? For me it was double the base storage and better battery. My air 2 was 2.5 years old and the battery was just not as good. Even new, the air 2's battery is not as good as the iPad 2017.
I've seen several people here using battery life as the main justification for upgrading from an Air or Air 2 to the new 2017 iPad. I'm just curious and this is in no way meant to be a criticism, but what is everyone doing on their iPads that a battery life of 9-10 hours is unacceptable but 11-12 is worth giving up a laminated screen and thinner, lighter chassis? On the iPhone, I get placing battery life at such a high priority since getting an iPhone through the day has historically been a challenge. But with an iPad, I just can't imagine staring at a screen for 10 hours in a single day, and that's coming from someone who takes his to work and uses it to take notes. Seems to me that 10 hours is more than enough to get me through the day. At that point, what does it matter how much extra battery is remaining? You can always just charge it overnight. Is there another use case that I'm missing?
The Air 2 works wonderfully for the most part although will have a occasional hiccup, I'm very interested to see what new Pro models will bring. No, not sure why I would. The Air 2 is thinner, lighter, has a better screen, laminated glass and is plenty fast enough!
