This one seems much faster and the other one was already very fast. Webpages seem to load instantly on my crappy internet lol.

2017 to 2021. Huge increase in speed. I’m very pleased. Never really used the A12X/Z so no comment on the gains they had over the A10X in my last iPad.

edit: Just saw this was for 2020 owners. I misread it as non-2020 owners. My mistake!

I think so, going to do some more testing, although not sure it is a huge jump. Seems noticeably heavier than last years, but maybe my imagination.

I'm sure there will be countless speed comparisons on YouTube. Maybe I'll do a personal comparison next week when I get mine since I'm also keeping the 2020 in the family. Also remember that the SSD is about 2x faster too per Apple.

I got mine today and I haven't used it a lot, but there are some things I noticed:
  • It is heavier (as already mentioned by reviewers)
  • The display is very good but last year's iPad had a great display too. The difference is in the blacks.
  • Audio is clearer and has more bass
  • For casual stuff, there is no real difference in performance.
  • Reloading of tabs or apps is much less frequent than before

Massive difference coming from a 3rd gen which has pretty much the same chip as the 2020 model, safari quicker, 120hz quicker, the whole UI quicker, keyboard quicker, loading apps and game quicker, this M1 iPad feels faster than my M1 MacBook Pro.

Feel sorry for anyone buying these garbage android, Samsung tablets with them crap chipsets ?‍♂️

If I was them I’d give up now, they’ll never catch apple or even come close.

Destroys the MacBook Pro in a few test, M1 iPad is one impressive beast.

Well, I'm coming from a 2018 iPad Pro 11", so I can't compare there. BUT...according to Geekbench scores, this iPad Pro 12.9 256GB model is more powerful than my 2019 16" MBP! o_Oo_Oo_Oo_O

Went from 2018 11” to 2021 11”. I loved my 2018. Never had reason to complain. Can’t believe I was living life in the slow lane lol. For the first time ever out of all the years
Of using iOS and iPadOS, I started browsing websites and actually said “holy crap safari is snappier.” I know nobody wants to hear that phrase it’s been annoying for years now.

i actually said it to myself today without joking. So, I’m seriously impressed lol.

Nah... I mean sure, when I run a benchmark my e-peen grows in leaps and bounds, but when I check my email, open youtube, fire up netflix, etc. there's no difference. Even in graphics applications I use like Procreate there's no recognizable difference in speed.

That all said, as programs continue to evolve and developers optimize for the M1, then maybe, but right now the speed boost is in theoretical benchmarks and phycological pleasures.

Couldn’t see a difference at BestBuy with the preloaded apps (obviously) someone should do a speed test even if it’s crappy. Kinda surprised there hasn’t been any yet. The difference in opening apps will be down to better single core performance as it always is.

Which ones?

There's also another one in English with similar results posted by someone else in this forum. I'll update when I come across it again.

OK, found the other too. A lot of rubbish videos to wade through.
