Don’t mind, it’s ironical. I‘m just a marketing victim that switches annually. To be honest, the 15 pro is a great iPhone, it actually gave me a bit of the feeling I had last with the X: the slightly rounded edges and the lighter weight really makes it feel different and better than 12/13/14 (Pro) and I appreciated that there was a black variant again that deserved that naming.
If there is a downside, than maybe the battery capacity - I really experienced it not that good, only the 12 Mini was worse.

Btw I ordered the 16 Pro desert titanium - will be my first non grey/black. I always looked out to a kind of bronze one, let’s see if it matches my taste.
Yes the battery kind of stops me getting the 15 pro. I'm light user so maybe it would be enough for me

Let us know what you think of the weight difference between 15 pro and the your 16 pro when you receive it.

Nope. I knew which one I wanted and why I wanted it, and no review would change my mind.

It's really not a hard choice - you want the Pro features or you don't, and you want a bigger phone or you don't. Then choose the color you like best.
It's not that easy. There are still tradeoffs to consider vis a vis how much are you willing to spend.

Do I want those features so much I want to put extra money down?

I'm stuck between Plus (big and cheap-ish), Pro (features but small-ish), Pro Max (big + features but most expensive + no 128GB option).

So far I've only eliminated 16 regular flavor.

After watching all the photo & video reviews of the 16 Pro, I am now regretting ordering the base 128GB 16 Pro.

Never needed more than 64GB in the past 5 years.

Now I am looking at using the camera & video features more and considering returning the 16Pro and getting a 512GB or 1TB Pro.

Q: are there any external USB-C drives that can "permanently" connect to the USB-C port like a larger case so that I can get more storage ?

I like having a good camera but in reality I don't need the best. I think this is the best year for a non-pro because they are pretty even playing fields aside from camera and battery. I imagine there will be more disparity between them next year. They all needed to be bumped for AI and I wonder if the 17 standard will have some of the same chips from this year. It is definitely the best value IMO.

Ha, if that were only true. Advertising industry has it down these days, in ways most don't even recognize in buying decisions.
Ha ha I mean I regards to people such as ijustine, MKDB etc. I do agree with on marketing though

Honestly the battery on my 15 Pro has been very good for me and I'm a moderate user.

The battery life reviews have made me question upgrading at all. The fact that the 16 Pro is the same as the 16 and only a bit better than the 15 Pro is disappointing to me. I had hoped that the 16 Pro would at least be in the ballpark with the 13PM, but that does not seem to be the case.

What are the general thoughts on a 14 Pro -> 16 Pro? I have a 16 Pro being delivered today but still on the fence over whether I really need it or not. The 14 Pro was paid for outright on day 1 and the only reason I'm even considering this upgrade is because Verizon is basically giving me the 16 Pro "for free" (had to trade in any phone, so I sacrified my X). I say "for free" because I have no intention of leaving Verizon.

It's kind of a weird situation because I don't really need to upgrade. The 14P is fine other than battery showing at 84%. But on the other hand I kind of feel like I should be taking advantage of upgrades since I'm basically paying for them in my monthly bill as it is.

Any thoughts on this?

I'm considering picking up the 15 pro at s reduced price as it's now a year old, so what was so "awful" with your 15 pro?

Are you still able to buy the 15 Pro? I was under the impression they'd stopped selling it.

Preliminary reports of folks finding the camera button too fiddly definitely make me want to hold a 16PM before I order, even as positive as I am on the increased size (I have disproportionately long thumbs).

Should have multi-quoted, sorry.

My understanding from the last few years is that the new phones always take a few days to "settle in" before getting the advertised battery life, especially if there's been a recent iOS update. I would wait for longer-term reviews on battery life before making a decision.

I am in a similar boat.

Have 14+ and ordered 16 Pro.

14+ is at 85% battery and love the long life.

Also, I upgrade every other year because Apple Card financing made me. 🤣

Yes Apple has stopped selling the 15 pro models but they're still being sold by most retailers in the UK (where I'm based), discounted by £100. Basically once stock runs out they won't be available which typically happens around December.

Yes just come back from my local Apple store and agree, I found the camera button a bit fiddly. I can't see regular "point & click" people (like myself) using it too much. One caveat is that maybe it will be better once you get used to it.

My 16 pro is probably going straight back and ill keep my 15 pro

ANOTHER Gimmick button, same display, larger screen isn't noticeable at all, photos look the same, 4K 120 is a memory beast and pointless, and desert looks like a white iPhone with a brown used clear case on.

The fact that the on screen camera controls are far quicker and easier to use over this stupid camera button, speaks volumes on the mess of a hardware team Jeff Williams is running.

Honestly, I wouldn’t have upgraded if I had the 15 Pro, yearly upgrades don’t make much sense anymore. But calling the camera button a gimmick is nonsense. I’ve always wanted a physical button for the camera, and it makes it feel like a real camera, kind of like the Sony Xperia phone I had as backup phone for a while. Plus, the 5x telephoto lens is a great addition. That’s why I skipped upgrading from 13 Pro Max to the 15 Pro last year, it didn’t have it, and I didn’t want the Pro Max.

Amazon UK are selling the 256 GB 15 Pro for £999, or the 128 GB for £100 Off like you said. There is also the upcoming Prime Big day sales coming up on Oct 8th-9th, which may give some further discounts (I'm waiting for discounts on Airpods Max myself).

Received it today. Weight difference surprisingly isn’t noticeable compared to the 15 Pro, at least for me.
Still, will return it. Can’t get along with that desert titanium. Should have sticked to my black buying habit.

Ha, I just got back from mine and thought the size of the 16PM was perfect (again, I have bizarrely long thumbs) and found the camera button intuitive and conveniently located. Truly different strokes for different folks.

See this is the right upgrade, anyone with a 13-15 really shouldn't touch the 16 with a barge pole.

X-12 is best suited for this year.

I would say anyone with an iPhone 14 and older should upgrade to the 16 models. Even going from the base 15 model to the base 16 model is worth upgrading to. But the general consensus is that if you have a 15 pro model the 16 pro models aren't major improvements and is more like an S year.
