Well I’ve ordered myself a Spigen iPhone XR case, so I can see what the size is like in my hands and pocket, hopefully it’ll be fine, it’s nearly a full centimetre shorter then the Max, hoping that helps.
Not sure if I’ll keep the case? Too impatient to wait a month lol!

I am going to wait a bit before I order, considering the XR doesn't arrive until October 26. Amazon's return policy is 30 days, so it would be best to have the XR accessories arrive in October.

True but it only cost £8, if I get the phone I may get an Apple leather case, but they aren’t cheap hmm..

The battery is likely quite a bit larger (as it's a much bigger phone after all), and as @JPack mentioned, when displaying a white background, LCD is more efficient than OLED.

Cool link. Yes, I guess that might explain why the X has a longer rated talk time than the XS.

Apple does change battery sizing to achieve a target, so unfortunately sometimes that means if the SoC is more efficient, they may reduce battery size.

It's also interesting to see just how much bigger then XS Max battery is compared to the XR, even though in overall volume, the XR is actually slightly bigger than the XS Max.

Personally, what I use my iPhone the most for is internet. Looking at the spec above, Apple thinks the XR should last 25% longer than the XS for this purpose.

The corresponding number for the X last year were 12 (same as XS), 13 (less than XS), 60 (same as XS), and 21 (more than XS).

Looking at these numbers i can't understand how can anyone drain the X's battery in one day, in 16 to 18 hrs of use. That'd be constant, full-time use, right...if there's not tomorrow?

Those quoted numbers are "up to" hours... meaning minimum display brightness, no JavaScript on webpages, high signal strength, etc.

Oh, i see... but still we are talking about more than few hours of use. I mean, how many time a regular/average (what ever that means person have for using his iphone every day? How many people, really, use theiir phones for heavy content/tasks more than 8 hrs every day?

For me, it'd be either a black Xr or a gold Xs. I would also consider the red Xr, but probably go with black if I went Xr.

It's a tough choice. Given I have an X, I would probably go gold Xs.

Coming from an iPhone 8, I have no clue what I would buy. Probably Xr because I wouldn't feel happy paying so much more money.

I am thinking about ordering the XS over waiting for the XR. I have a $25 Apple Store Gift Card and my card company is giving a 5% rebate for the purchase. I also can get it financed for 12 months no interest too.

Is it worth $270 (rounded up and included tax in there) for an extra GB of RAM, dual OIS cameras w/ optical zoom and deeper digital zoom, 5.8" OLED display w/ 1125p resolution and HDR 10/Dolby Vision, stainless steel design, 3D Touch, IP68 water resistance, additional portrait lighting modes, Gigabit LTE speeds?

I have the 8+ right now. I take a ton of photos and videos. The optical zoom is welcomed, but not needed. I prefer to have an OLED display to watch video content, especially if I want to use a device for 2-3 years at the very least. 3D Touch is used for peek and pop or previewing.

The problem, at least I have, is that I want to use a phone for awhile and still want features to enjoy the most out of a phone. Is $270 worth the upgrade considering I would use a phone for so much?

I use my phone for my emails, GPS, calendar, phone calls, social media, YouTube, podcasts, music, web browsing, texting, What's App, ordering stuff, snap photos, take videos, etc.

I am also having issues with my 8+'s screen not being as responsive as before either. Suggestions?

I love the X! I would honestly go to the Xs if I was in your position. There’s no reason why you can’t downsize. The Xr would be a potential upgrade but if you had the extra spend, I would totally recommmend the upgrade so that you get OLED, dual cameras, better resolution, small form factor, stainless band etc.

I might have to call them to ask. I think it does have warranty coverage. If not, I’ll have to forfeit the rebate and get another card’s no interest offer since it’s limited time till the 25th.

iPhone XR for me. The OLED screen looks fantastic on the XS, but on paper the rest of the tech looks very similar and the battery is bigger on the XR. I can't justify spending £300 more on a phone, just because the screen is better. If I watched a lot of Netflix/catch up TV on my phone then maybe I would bite and go for an XS. In reality though, I don't!

I can't wait to preorder and get my hands on it. I'll be moving from an S8 and Samsung/Android will NOT be missed!

I wouldn't even seriously consider the Xr - it's a dramatically overpriced compromise for anything other than a casual phone user. Perhaps the internals overall are good, but having such a low-res screen here in 2018 at $750 is unacceptable.

Using an iPhone 8 now, and just can’t make a freakin’ decision here...

The phones are so similar, with the XS being slightly better in terms of camera & screen. If the XR was the same size (or slightly smaller) than the XS, I would be 100% on board, I’m just don’t know if I want a phone as big as the XR, but I don’t really want to pay $999 for the XS. Ugh. #FirstWorldProblems

i face the same dilemma as you, albeit between X and XR. coincidentally, my aunt faced some problems with her Oppo R9, and it has near identical dimensions with the XR. my first impression is the width. it's too wide, and i cannot hold it comfortably in my hand. XR is 1.4mm wider, but do note that i have really small hands (the length from the base of my palm to the tip of my middle finger is only 16cm). The height is fine. I as able to fit in my pocket just fine, but may need some using to, and im quite sure that i will struggle with my dress pants.

also, you can consider not upgrading this year, as iphone 8 will still be more than capable till next year. should apple come out with a great phone next year, buy that, since you have already saved quite a bit of money this year. should apple come out with a iphone XSS next year, buy iphone XS at a discounted rate.

I would go red XR all the way. I hated seeing those micro-scratches on the band around the X in both color options. I've also never been a fan of OLED which have a shorter life expectancy than LCD. The XS does have stronger glass on both sides and that stainless steel that's prone to scratches

I'm actually more torn between a red OnePlus 6T, red XR, or black Pixel 3 since I could also be moving from T-Mobile to Verizon next month. That red OnePlus 6 is simply FIRE. Ferrari RED.

Since the XS doesn't come in red and I'm not a fan of that new gold color option, that's the main reason I'm choosing the XR. Buying an iPhone has been more of a fashion statement and showing off a design than the actual specs. I would also save money too and use it for the new Apple Watch.

Are Verizon getting OnePlus phones? I thought it only was T-Mobile? And, yes, red is a very compelling color (I'd love a red iPhone), but my eyes have to be super comfortable with the screen so that might push me toward the more luxe option if I decide to upgrade.
