yes I totally agree with you, sometimes it can just get old, and sometimes it can just look sooo cool, so why the hell not...

You should re-read what I wrote.
I never said I did not like HDR.

It amazes me that people would open a thread entitled "HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography - post your HDR", look at all the HDR photos, and then complain that they don't like HDR photography. What did you expect to see here???

Again, I agree with you. They think we hate HDR because of the over processed look.

People, all I said was I tend to not like them as much. I personally think HDR to a certain extent is great. Take a look at the ones I did in this post here. Although they are rather extreme, they are still believable. However, in the next post of mine, I wanted a fake look for the article I had to design for my graphic design class, so I did this here.

I just think it has a time and place. That's my personal taste.

Here's my 2nd attempt ever, was taken with a s6500fd. I was still trying to get used to the different shots at different exposure :) What do you think, came out a little blue for my liking

I think it's simply amazing! I don't mind all the blue. The slight little instances of orange are a great compliment to all that blue. Well done!

No question that HDR can get to be a bit much sometimes. But it's a PP style, like any other. To me, saying "I don't like HDR" is like saying "I don't like dodging and burning"; sometimes HDR is called for, sometimes it isn't, and sometimes you do it anyway.

It's called trolling or flame baiting. I guess some people just have enough spare time.

I'm off to a Windows forum to announce that I don't like Windows ;)

Edit: If it was unclear: I agree with you Edge100

My first attempts, just got my first DSLR from a friend (D70). I'll start taking part in the weekly contests, etc soon..... when I getting a better grasp of the concepts of setting Aperture, ISO and Shutter Speed :D

Wow, Nice HDRs, some don't even look like HDR but it still has that HDR feeling into it.

Here is my first attempt at HDR. Any comments are welcome.

I guess a general tip would be to go out, and make a composition that would be very appealing without HDR, even then wait around for the right lighting (as Doylem does producing those fantastic non HRD shots). Then apply HDR to that (if the situation is right)

The subject of your picture doesn't have a lot going on, maybe next time try to capture a scene with a stronger subject. When composing, think about the usefulness or effect HDR will offer the picture.

I'm no expert with this stuff and I hate being critical, but try to save HDR for those situations where it is needed. Go and have another shot, thinking more about subject matter, be sure to post back here:) It's all a learning experience :)
Don't worry, many fall for the post processing trap, I know I did when I was new to it all.

I've never been a real fan of HDR but figured I'd give it a shot with a picture I took this summer. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and might have to look into purchasing photomatix... I've never liked how photoshop handled HDR conversions.

I tried but I couldn't get mines as good as everyone else's (not with the self portrait, I tried taking multiple photos from outside on a tripod with dif exposures, and the HDR looked like a high exposed photo).
