help! people with 3.0GM, How to update with ITUNES or no need?

i had a 3.0 GM on, and i saw sb started downloading 3.0 via itunes.

do i need to downgrade to 2.x and then itunes can dedecte the 3.0?

or its not necerrsasry as todays release its the same as the 3.0gm?
 
no need to. the 3.0 that was just released and the 3.0 GM are exactly the same. they're both build# 7A341.
 
not sure either? i asked the same thing earlier but no one knew... it just says 3.0 that we have is the current version... but id like to upgrade just incase there are a few revisions
 
apparantly its the same build as the GM, never the less, i'd still have the official release, just waiting for someone to upload the 3g 3.0 restore file and I'll do it manually
 
Why waste Apple's bandwidth? They don't use build numbers for no reason!

They also don't use the term "gold master" for no reason. It's the final release!
 
Same for me , was running GM , just clicked "restore" and it is installing a we speak
Thought I'd update to the official version just to be sure , for some reason I thought I'd have to DL the IPSW and do a manual install , but it all seem to be working.
 
i mean no matter what apple has proven to have done in the past or whatever the definition of GM is, until an actual Apple software developer who worked on 3.0 until its final release can tell us that it's exactly the same, no one can say that they're 100% certain it's exactly the same.

i mean we're talking absolute certainty here, not absolute belief.

If the build number is the same, there is no difference! Why is that such a hard concept to grasp?!
 
even so...

you all are saying they are the same, I have the 3.0 GM that was leaked. There are some features that I read 3.0 should have that I don't. Just minor things but I will be restoring and DLing the upgrade available from iTunes.
 
Really, do you think they would change the 3.0 GM and leave it with the same build number and not tell all of the develepers that this has happened. No way would this happen.
 
You people are too funny. Maybe I should do an "official" upgrade too because I have the 3.0 GM and I don't see the camera icon on my messages app either! Also, I don't see any Internet Tethering options on my phone! I also can't get my battery meter to show a percentage, and my Voice Controls don't come up!

Oh my God! Maybe it's about to expire and then my phone will get bricked!! I better downgrade to 2.2.1 and then restore to the "official" 3.0 before my iPhone explodes!!

+ bazillion to all those that have mentioned the build number is the same as the GM so no need to upgrade.
 
Does anyone have the updated carrier settings? I downgraded for MMS and tethering, and I can't get the most up to date one back!
