I have two PCIe cards, A Highpoint 7103 and a Syba I/O Crest. The Highpoint is Pool "A" (Slot 4) the Syba in Pool "B" (Slot 5). No issues - But I don't use sleep.

Since I use two MPX 5700 modules, I only have slot 5 available for X16 PCI. Even if I put everything on pool A I get panic error ...

Question is still whether the HP could have a problem with only 3 SSDs?

I have now returned the HighPoint. I'm fed up with all these problems. I will replace you with the Sonnet FUS-SSD-4X4-E3S. This card is completely fanless and the temperatures are below the HP with fan. Since the manufacturer was even shown on the keynote for the MP 2019, I hope that this card will do its job in my 7.1 ...

Let us know how it works out. From what I seem to remember, it uses the same Broadcom PLX that's in the highpoint.

I have two Sonnet 4x4s in my 7,1. They work just fine using the OWC fix to place both in PCI bandwidth pool A. If one of them is on A and the other is on B, then there is trouble with sleep.

Short update: I received the Sonnet M.2 4x4 PCIe Card (Silent). Map makes a perfect impression like all Sonnet products. Good cooling concept. Installation uncomplicated. No drivers needed. Runs smoothly from the start. Never temperature my four 2TB Samsung EVO Plus over 43 degrees.MacOS RAI
Annoy me that I only bought this highpoint with these many problems. Therefore from me already because of the loud fan and the high temperatures as well as the permanent panic ERRORs a clear NO to HighPoint and a YES to Sonnet!

With SoftRAID the HP is faster but I can do without it!

Thanks for sharing. It looks like you are missing about 5,000 MB/sec in performance. Is the card running at x8 or x16 PCIe 3.0 lanes?

@Ork Yes, all four Samsung in RAID 0. Here are the measurements with ATTO. All information from Sonnet is correct. My data is exactly the same even a little more thanks to the 2GB modules. I can only recommend the card, everything is perfect and completely silent. No wonder that Sonnet is named by Apple and not HP ...
