If anyone wants a quick way to reset the springboard when the icons stop moving do this:

Scroll over to app library
Click the search field
type ""::
Springboard resets and your icons should move again
Wow i was scouring the web for answers because i noticed the bug on 17.6.1. Reading all of these comments was entertaining.

The “”:: spooked me! XD what a cool trick. Thanks for the tips and validation that my eyes aren't playing tricks on me.

By the way guys. I think parallax is broken again in iOS 18. Watch Brandon’s latest video. You can see as he waves his hand around, the search button moves but the icons are completely stationary.

You're right. I'm on the latest beta and it quits working as soon as I go to the App Library. I don't really pay attention to this parallax effect, so not sure if it was ever fixed in the earlier betas. Looks like the "":: trick doesn't work in iOS18 either.

How about 18.1?

No iOS 18 for me until at least Christmas or next year! 🍭

...but i can tell you, it's still borked in 17.7 RC!

Sorry for a dumb question but how do you get that effect in the first place? i just spent a couple minutes swiping homescreens and up down but I don't ever get this gradual movement that you show off in your video. Despite how broken yours is with the notifications I can't make the icons move even in that broken way at all and I've never seen them move either in all the years of owning iPhones. So I am really baffled as to how that effect should be triggered in the first place.

Or is the bug that it doesn't trigger at all?

You'll have to restart the phone or at least the dock. Then you have the effect working, until you visit the app library or the widget screen.

Thanks! Booted up and didn't swipe left or right... and was about to say I don't see it. This is the first time in my life I have ever seen this. The moment I accidentally and instinctively swiped to the app library it was already gone. Absolutely wild that I didn't know this exists. Never noticed it on any iPhone for over a decade.

If you want the effect back without restarting, search your app library for the following exactly:

With this still being broken on iOS 18... I see no real need to update... plus I can't even do the "":: trick to quickly fix it.

Guess I'm sticking with 17 for a while.

Hi everyone, most annoying bug for me since ios 16, it was fixed at 18.0beta1, but then broken again, i know a fast way to temporarily fix it without reboot, you have to go through settings>home screen & app library>search(show on home screen)>switch it to off/on (no matters), it will bring parallax back until you swipe to app library or widget menu

Nothing new, only a bunch of bug and security fixes - of course missing this one. ;)
By the way, when I first turned on my iPhone 16 Pro the parallax effect worked completely. Even the wallpaper moved, not just the icons and badges. But when I changed the wallpaper, I never got it to move again.

You have to restart or respring to get it back. As soon as you scroll to the app library it will break again.
