Thanks. Yeah it's a really nice handset overall and for the price it just goes to show how much phone you can get for half the price of flagships these days.He is such a poser! Great pics as always MRU!
Holy Cow! Those photos compare very favorably to any iPhone photo I've ever taken. I can see where the highlight on your dog's nose got blown out but I've seen my iPhone and my Samsungs do that sort of thing, too. I really like the black and white shots. I knew we can do that with filters but still, it's well done on the originals here. Somebody will likely correct me but isn't your $400 phone doing the same bokeh effect the IPhone 7 plus is supposed to do? I've not seen enough sample photos from the Plus yet to know what the difference would be.Thanks. Performance is really smooth and love the smart fingerprint key to launch camera or Google now.
It's a sleuce gate for sea water when tide is in high to prevent some of the run off to the fields flooding. What is that thing in the 2nd pic?
It uses the monochrome and colour lens to enhance details and bokeh. It does it very well. When you think the 7+ is €550 more expensive ...Holy Cow! It's definitely very marmite (Love it/Hate it) OS skin wise. But I'm actually really enjoying it. It feels like a hybrid of iOS and Android.Tried the Honor 8 a few days ago at a store. I really liked it but then I started using the software and it's again a case of trying to fix something that isn't broken. Poor options, rearranged settings. I'd definitely want a custom ROM for one but otherwise it seemed like a really good phone.
What brightness do you have it set to?So first day and installing all my apps and using the camera and syncing music via iSyncr for a long while and i have 5.5 hours SOT ... Not bad at all. Hopefully this will improve even further as it settles in.
About 65% with auto ticked. Outdoors it ramped up to 100%What brightness do you have it set to?
Nice...glad you're getting along with the Honor 8 and look forward to reading more of your thoughts.About 65% with auto ticked. Outdoors it ramped up to 100%
Yeah so far positive, but give it a week and re-evaluateNice...glad you're getting along with the Honor 8 and look forward to reading more of your thoughts.
Yeah if you need 4k and video stabilisation this isn't for you. Thankfully i rarely shoot video at all, it's all photos for me.I would have probably bought this phone if it had 4K video recording.
That's my most important feature nowadays in a phone. Been looking at some 1080P videos I shot a while ago and they look terrible compared to the 4K ones I record with the S6.
Can't go back to 1080P video recording.
For me it's the other way around. I shoot videos more than I take photos. 4K is great for videos of my family or when I'm on vacation. That's why I need it so much.Yeah if you need 4k and video stabilisation this isn't for you. Thankfully i rarely shoot video at all, it's all photos for me.

Still loving the phone? Is this your main device? Your pictures are great by the way.
I have been using the phone for around 1 month now and once you know how the OS works, it is worth the swap from IOS. However notifications on this phone are a pain to get working correctly. The phone auto defaults to restricting apps and can be very annoying when you are in a rush.
For example Waze would not work when late for work as the phone restricted GPS and phone permissions when using it for the first time.
EMUI needs to correct the above while making notifications look cleaner in the notifications panel. Some look stretched such as the eBay app. Third party music players have no lock screen controls too. You have to open the phone then pull down the notifications panel.
Also the auto brightness is too volatile in dark situations. I constantly have to turn brightness up.
Not sure how your getting 5.5 SOT??? I am getting 4.5 hours max. I have bluetooth on all the time for use with my Fitbit and watch around 30mins youtube videos every day.
Top Features I like about this phone are summarised below:
- Smart Key Finger Print button
- Bluetooth unlock - In the car requires no fingerprint to unlock phone
- Eye protections
- Do not disturb
- Magazine lock random wallpapers
I'm actually really enjoying it and I've adapted to EMUI very easily and found it's hidden things. Your Fitbit is likely the cause of the difference in SOT and of course your cellular connection could be weaker than mine meaning it uses more power generally. There are so many differences that can affect battery between users. But yeah I am getting 5-5.5 easily on it and I'm surprised by that actually.
Have you tried iSyncr ? Worls fine for me for my androids. But the most of music now comes from Google Play Music where i have uploaded all my iTunes library as well as my GPM subscription ..Today is actually the first day of getting 5.5hrs screen on time haha. Im sure you had some influence on this!
Being totally honest, I am thinking of going back to IOS. There are too many small bugs on the phone that drive me crazy + syncing iTunes music to the phone is a chore.
Do you have a IOS device as well?
Why do you cry foul on my photo comparisons ? If you load the full image you can check the meta exif data if you don't think they are real ... But honestly I don't know why you'd think I would do that ??I cry foul on photo comparisons with much more higher priced smartphones in that other thread but I do not really take snaps anyway.
