OK. Again artificial limitations on "older" hardware by Apple.
Greedy company Apple.

Wow. Both devices have 4 gigs of RAM. So then it is about the processor. Maybe, since A10X has three high-performance cores, they are dedicated to the 3 apps on the screen. A9X has two cores. They could’ve made two apps still running and one app greyed-out, but I believe they avoided it to prevent confusion. Still, greedy movement.

Core count is not relevant in my opinion.
Each core has >2 GHz. Should be sufficient to run many many windows in parallel, just like any desktop OS does this since 30 years.

How does the aesthetic of the OS look on the silver model vs the space gray? I notice there are a lot of black/gray shades in screenshots... does it still look good with white bezels?

I have the Gold model, iOS 11 looks beautiful with white bezels. I’ve grown accustomed to black bezels, and the black trim on the white bezel was annoying me for a while. But now, I don’t care about it. It looks beautiful :)

Hmm installed it earlier today and mixed feelings to be honest. Functionality is improved, but in terms of performance... Let’s say I expected a bit more from hardware supposed to be designed for iOS 11 (not the hardware fault of course) - the app switcher and opening apps are miles away from iOS 10. I hope it will come to speed with future updates.

I only did a beta once and it was enough to never do again.

GM versions are mostly always same with the release versions. I’m on GM, the stability and performance are great! Though, some features like 3rd party cloud storages on Files are not working till the release, but other than that, everything works and behaves like they should.

Stop with these ridiculous statements. This has nothing to do with greed. If this has been disabled for the gen 1 12.9" Pro, there was something Apple didn't like either in the performance or battery use department. Who cares if it had to do with RAM, processor, whatever. There was something there that made the feature less than ideal on that particular machine. You're complaining that Apple is greedy, but if they turned that feature on and it didn't work well, you'd complain that the feature sucks. So they're basically picking and choosing what they're giving you to whine about. They are in a lose lose situation with the typical Macrumors forum poster.

The first gen 12.9" iPad Pro is not a mass market iPad and there would probably be no substantial money to gain by disabling a feature that most users don't know about anyway. Most casual iPad users I know don't even know how to invoke split view. So I find it ridiculous that people here get all bent out of shape about every little thing and then attribute it all to greed. If they turn the feature off, you'll complain about "planned obsolescence". If they turn it on, you'll complain about unoptimized software. One thing I'm sure of though--Apple surely has the common sense to know that most purchasers of the 1st gen 12.9" iPad Pro are PROBABLY not going to feel the need to upgrade to the second gen just yet. So I doubt they're trying to force anyone's hand here by disabling a feature that only power users of iOS would ever care about.

Is there an easy way to multitask with an app that in not in the dock? ie. I cannot find a way to drag an app that is not in the dock. Therefore right now I put all my apps in folders in the dock, and it is very inconvenient.

The dock ? Easy access to flip between apps, shows most recently used ones if you have a lot that can be handy, reminds me of macOS just in general

I really like it :D

It’s not perfect but I wish they had incorporated something like this long ago,

With the hdr10/Dolby Vision support on iOS 11 GM finally being confirmed yesterday, I weakened last night and upgraded my 2017 iPad 5 to a 10.5 Pro. Got it home, immediately upgraded it to iOS 11 GM and restored from backup. WoW! iOS 11 and iPad Pro are just made for one another aren’t they? Buttery smooth performance wise, the screen with ProMotion and TrueTone just burys anything else Ive seen.

The iOS 11 multitasking that was pretty damned good on the regular iPad just shines here with the extra screen estate and productivity in turn goes up a gear with the ASK rather than usurping a virtual keyboard that no matter how good still occluded so much of the screen.

If iPad Pro was the promise that an iPad could replace my laptop (late 2011 MBP 15”), iOS 11 is Apple making good on that promise. With the full release of iOS 11 out on Tuesday, I’d say upgrade with the highest confidence.

Really wanted to try new software on my new iPad Pro so i caved and loaded the iOS 11 GM, I’m really liking it so far and not seeing really any issues (knock on wood!).

The biggest improvement is the dock and is definitely something required in a screen of this size, definitely helps with productivity.

Once the official iOS 11 release comes out Tuesday will I have to reset my iPad in order to be on that ‘production’ version?

Loving it. It now differentiates it from being just a giant iPhone. Works seamlessly on an iPad Pro 12.9 first gen. Would still consider JBing simply for theming, but other than that it does make an iPad feel more powerful.

To me, the new dock is a game-changer.

I think you don’t have to. Just delete the Beta Profile now, and you’ll get the release version.

Guys I need help, I’m on the GM version and it’s not letting me install the full version. It says my iOS is up to date. It’s still considered beta cuz Dropbox doesn’t work on Files like it should. I deleted the Beta Profile.

You and everyone else with the GM release will not get an update because that is the update, you just got it early
