I'm SO frustrated that Apple doesn't have the rear case for the iPad Pro 2017. The 1st gen case won't work because the camera layout is different, not to mention we don't know if there are other small differences.

Why, Apple? Why?

Hmm interesting. I'm not going to spend much time looking. Might just return the new iPad and wait for Apple to get their stuff together.

It's a want more than a need anyways.

Temporary case and then possibly a skin for the back. I hate applying them so I will likely let the invisishield people do it at the mall.

Since I'm getting the 10.5 I'm holding out for a bit. I'm guessing the first runs of a lot of these won't fit quite right. In the end I'll go for one of the plastic shells. I had one from Joy Factory for my original Mini, but unfortunately they stopped making the simple ones and are focused on ones that are meant to be used as payment terminals and kiosks now.

The MoKo looks interesting since it incorporates the smart cover knock off. Does anyone have experience with how they hold up over time? I went through two Apple smart covers on my Mini because the long magnet that holds it to the side detached from the rest of the cover.

I've protected the back of my devices since my first iPod's back acquired dozens of scratches. My Air 2 is in an Apple leather case. Darn thing seemed expensive at the time. But, it's been worth the money!

I bought the ASK for the 10.5" pro. Hoping to use that as my front cover. For now, I'll probably purchase the LUVVITT back cover mentioned by s1njin above. It's just $13 with free shipping, so i don't mind if I only use it in the short-term. It's even available with same-day shipping to my location. :)

I've had good experience with MoKo customer service so I'd definitely buy from them again. As for how the case holds up, no problems yet after over a year of use. In any case, I only paid $10 for it so it'll take 8 replacements before costs would break even with an Apple Smart Case (had one existed).

Great fit and works very well.

I ordered before the Pro 9.7 was actually released so there were some issues with the location of the magnets. The seller (BCStore?) immediately and automatically sent replacements to those who got the first batch. The replacement works perfectly. Bonus, I have a spare case (alas with non-working magnetic lock). :p

Yeah I think MOKO cases are the way to go. Unless you are getting the keyboard cover.

In my case I still have to figure out whether I like having the keyboard on the front or to the sides. Even then, have a keyboard that thin is simply amazing.
I got a cheap Moko from Amazon--will use that until the Silicon Cases come out. I love those things.

I'm #teamnaked + AppleCare+.

After going this route with my 7 Plus, there's no going back for me.

I will buy the leather sleeve for transport, however.

I just have the Smart Keyboard on my IPP 9.7 and it folds back to protect the back when it’s not in typing mode. Works well, keeps it slim.

Cheap cover from Amazon. Have Moko case for both 12.9" & 9.7" Pros and they are great for $6-8.

Do they have skins out for the new 12.9 yet? I'd love to have some in within a couple days since my pad arrives tomorrow.

I can't even fathom living with the ipad without a back cover. Since apple let us down in that regard, how do you guys are planning on handling that?

I'm considering getting the keyboard cover for sure though.
What do you want to protect? Its solid metal.
iPad is a work tool. It can get some scratches. So what?

I have always gone back and forth between a KHOMO case on Amazon and the official iPad Air 2 smart cover. Why? The KHOMO case has a back but I hate how bulky it is and the front flip cover isn't strong (weak magnets) but the Apple smart cover doesn't protect the back.

I must have the back protected so I can use the device how I want. So ... after months and months of going back and forth between these two cases .... I had the genius idea of just ripping off the front flap on the KHOMO case. Yep, it rips right off and .... there's enough space for the Apple iPad Air 2 case to stay on. Problem solved! lol.

The best part is, if I don't want a front flap because I'm going to be doing a bit of reading? The Apple Air 2 smart cover disconnects without harming the device and I've got something a bit lighter to hold in one hand.

Just figured this mod out about an hour ago after owning the iPad Air 2 and these 2 cases since January. Pretty happy.

I don't use the back cover. Our use the smart cover or keyboard and usually if I'm transporting it outside of my home I have a little zips leave, but I don't want anything on the front or back of the iPad when I want to use it in tablet mode.
