So it seems a lot of us are experiencing some battery life issues with iOS 9 (as is expected with any beta) but I'm curious to see if the way you installed it has anything to do with this drain.

At this moment the drain is quite drastic for me to the point that I'm thinking of just downgrading.

I upgraded from 8.4 beta.

Fresh install from iOS 8.3 and dropped from 29% to 0 with Low Power Mode last night while I was sleeping. Already reported to Apple.

Already charged back to 100% so we'll see how things go today.

Upgraded from 8.4 beta and definitely saw the hit on battery life, but this morning I did a Reset All Settings and charged all the way up so we'll see how it does through the day today.

Please do update us! If it works I would definitely do that.

Hardly half way through the work day and I'll be testing that new low power mode pretty quickly... Normally 50-60% when leaving work, currently 45% but don't have exact usage / standby times since last charge; they appear to be blank today.

Edit: Update - 1:45 and I'm at 26%. Folded and found a charger because I won't make it to home otherwise. 6+ running a fresh install.

I just read on another thread that turning off all the search fields will help with battery. I can't confirm right now but I did it and some of the lag I was experiencing went away.

Settings -> General -> Search and uncheck everything.

Restored and set up as new. On my first full charge cycle and so far fantastic battery life, 7.5 hrs with 25% remaining. Never had it this good with 8.

I do see a bit of laggy ness occasionally, but it's to be expected. I do have a bug where Im asked to log in to the App Store when re-downloading apps. Overall so far(18 hrs), it's been a very good experience.

6 Plus upgraded from 8.3 and it seems to be a bit worse on battery life so far.
I wonder since some are saying disabling the Search settings helps if there is some indexing that is going on.
Maybe it will settle down once done.
I did notice the phone seems to get warmer quicker during use as well.

I think the indexing could be the answer here.

What I think I'll do is turn all the search options on overnight while my phone is plugged in and see what happens but for now I will leave them off.

upgraded from 8.3 and the drain was pretty significant. I don't find it surprising at all for a beta because the same thing happened with previous beta 1s. but what cracks me up about it is that they specifically said that iOS 9 adds X amount of battery life to existing devices. just what build are they using?

Exactly. How can they say this gives an extra hour of battery life? Certainly no alpha build would give you an extra hour and if they're using a better beta version, why didn't they release that one?

Upgraded. My battery life is pretty horrible. I'm going to downgrade to 8.4 (Beta 4) today, though. I'll see how that turns out.

You don't need to have s final build to see improvement. I've certainly seen noticeable increase, give it a bit of time. As far as the builds themselves., I'm pretty sure they use a separate branch for internal development. It's probably several builds ahead of the developer beta.

my assumption is that they're guessing based on the changes they're implementing.

"well, if we make x change and x change and x change, it should give us around an extra hour"

but I think it's a little disingenuous to say they're going to deliver extra battery life before they get it done

Don't forget also that no 3rd party app is yet optimized for iOS9 yet, so some apps my be affecting battery life

this is a good point. personally, I haven't been doing much of anything with my phone other than safari, music and mail.

That's exactly correct! Internal testing is at least one beta ahead.

I upgraded to iOS 9. Im not seeing much difference in terms of battery life.

Pretty horrendous. As expected. I think this is the worst beta in terms of battery life. I've now turned off the Search items to see what effect that will have but I like having those features on. We'll see. No worries though. This is a beta after all ;)

The battery drain is pretty intense. It wasn't even this bad on iOS 7 beta 1. If I downgrade to iOS 8, how will it effect my watch which is running Watch OS 2?

How did you upgrade the watch to 2.0 and how would you revert back to 1.0.1 or can you?

You can't revert. I simply put the update certificate into my dropbox and opened it on the iPhone and tapped "install to Watch". You can also email it to yourself, it's only like 2kb.Then when you go into the Watch app on your iPhone and hit software update the 2.0 update should come up.
