I was definitely thinking the same thing. It may be harsh, but it's true. Especially if it's your own money... seriously now...

Dude I have to admit,
you are almost 18!

You are almost an adult!
Alexander the Great conqurered the known world at the age of 18.
Many brave souls have fought and died for their country at the age of 18, some even younger!

And here your parents are monitering you like a baby.
Seriously, my parents are kind of like that, but I stand up to them and remind them that I'm not a child anymore, every once in a while.

I'm thinking it is about that time to remind them that you aren't a baby and have your own responsibilities that you _will_ take care of?

Seriously, stand up for yourself, but be respectfull at the same time.

I personally would kill myself if my parents treated me as a child.

Actually, Alexander the Great, didn't become King of Macedonia until he was 20, didn't overthrow the Persians until he was 24...anyway, I see your point.

I just hope this guy, if and when he ever has his own children, remembers how much pointless and meaningless stress his parents put on him over something so trivial, and takes another "route", shall we say.

I disagree. He pointed out his parents had real concerns, and he negotiated a difficult discussion with great communication skills. From what he said about his own situation, I would not call any of the concerns being discussed, trivial.
