Given Apple's track record for supporting older hardware, the M1 Macs should be supported through 2027 at a minimum. Big Sur cut off support for some 2012 models when it was released last year, and they have kept that same timeframe for a while now.

ROFL - no, you don't have issues, this is a perfectly normal and reasonable reaction to people who prod your screen! I had a colleague who even had a sticky label on their laptop that said "Please do not touch the screen!" to prevent just this kind of aberrant behaviour.
Drives me crazy too. It is as if when people see something that is clean and refreshing, they HAVE to touch it...

...or my wife, who always wants to squeeze loaves of bread or pastries (in the packaging!) to see if they are fresh. We were once in a modern-art museum where there was a life-sized plastic/rubberized Porsche car...and she had to touch it despite the "Do NOT touch the artworks!" notices. Just a tactile person I guess!

They'll still be supported at that time, maybe even after that. Apple is usually really good when it comes to that.

1st Gen ASMacs? They'll be OK five years from now. It's macOS support I'm worried about, as I fear they will pull a 2006 on us and keep all the First Gens under macOS 11.

I still run with my trusty 2011 mini and a heck of a lot of old PowerPC Macs. As long as they're capable of doing things, and all signs point to the fact they are capable, then a few years of age shouldn't slow them down.
