SOT will never be greater than usage time for a 24 hours period. It is not going to happen I will even go further and say that SOT+background time will never be higher than usage time for a 24 hour period or more.

Try it if you have an iPhone on iOS 9. Run your iPhone like you normally do for a 24 hour period. And then post the screenshots so we can see them. Summarize the screenshots in minutes like I did in my two posts. Go ahead. Prove that SOT will be higher than usage time for a 24 hour period or more. I challenge you and Jamezr to do it.

You stated the reason why you have to wait 24 hours is because it includes the previous 24 hours. This reason is WRONG.

I also explained to you why it balances out after 24 hours. If you use your phone consistently (including lots of app switching from 100%-0% non stop until it almost dies the SOT will be greater than usage. I challenge you to do that.

I reiterate, the reason why it balances out after 24 hours is this...when you are not using the phone, usage time is increasing due to background activity while SOT remains stagnant. Hence after 24 hours, usage will surpass SOT. Now if you use your phone consistently (non stop) then both SOT and usage will be increasing, SOT increasing at a faster rate than usage.

Just a question. In 9.2 if you click the clock icon you get the actual screen on time of each app. Wouldn't just adding them up give you your screen on time ?

For example my screen on time is just over 4 hours adding the usage up here which is accurate based on my usage today.

Or am I missing something here ?

Though to be honest, since everyone is in agreement the 6S+ is one of the best for battery generally - what is the arguing about ? Honestly I've lost track of what the point of contention was ...
Look at the screen shot below. My screen time added up to 88 minutes yet me usage was 48 minutes. How does that happen? It's not accurate.

Note 5 has crappy battery life, I'd estimate very roughly about half of the 6s+. I'm routinely surprised by a low battery alert on my Note 5 at least a few times per week, where on my 6s+ I don't think I ever ran low enough to get an alert, certainly not more than once or twice.

Is it really fair to compare? I say no until Apple upgrades the display with QHD and more PPI.

Then we'll see how things shake out between other smartphones that have that type of display and how Iphones compare for battery life and performance. :)
Yeah I would not compare quad HD to iPhone 6s plus 1080p....that's unfair and it's nice that note 5 gets the battery life it gets on such a high resolution and ppi.

Screen time shows your total screen time for the last 24 hours. While usage and standby are since last full charge.

Wait till your standby reach 24 hours and the number will be accurate.

Why do I have to wait 24 hours for the times to be accurate? Why doesn't it show accurate information in real time? How do you know the information being reported after 24 hours is accurate? I don't go 24 hours in between charges. My phone's go on the charger at night when I go to bed. Then off the charger in the morning.

No, you don't have to do anything to your phone if you don't want to. Apple never say this is the same screen on time feature like in Android and it isn't. But it is the closest measurement we have to compare screen on time on these 2 different platforms at the moment.

As I was trying to explain to nj1266. If what you say is true "total screen time for the last 24 hours" that means Jamezr only used his phone screen for 88 minutes in the last 24 hours which is incorrect. Hence I highly doubt that statement you made is correct.

Around 1.5 hour of screen on time for a secondary phone is pretty reasonable.

He will not listen. I have been telling him that since I started posting on this subject. Some people do not even want to try what you tell them for fear of being proven wrong.

Try it for 24 hours and then post a screenshot. If I am wrong, I will publicly concede.

So I'll pose the same questions to you!

This is more like it....when IOS can do this....then we can talk.....

I can't figure out why my battery life is so bad on the N5. It's not rooted and I barely have any apps installed. Not even half done with my day and I'm at 49%.

It was one reason why I ditched the Note 5 plus I do not use the S pen all that much. I also wanted a smartphone with an Edge display for a change of pace. :)
