I can't even remember what I had and for how long. Major purchases were the Mac Mini G4 OG 2005; C2D 1.83GHz 2007; C2D 2.26GHz 2009; i7 2.3GHz 2012, which I just sold a few months back. Definitely has some others in there, such as the early Core Duo/Solo which I would upgrade to C2D and sell on eBay...those days are long gone.

My first was the 2005 original. It will be someday be retired to my Hall of Fame next my original 512K. :)

2005 Original (1.4GHz G4) <- sold on craigslist

2007 Core 2 Duo 1.83GHz, now with SSD and still in use :cool:

2011 2.0 quad core server, with some upgrades

Mac Mini owners seem to like the concept. With 99 votes, nearly 2/3 have owned more than one Mac Mini, including me. I'm on my second, an early 2009, which is still soldiering on. In due course, when it is no longer cost effective to repair or upgrade (just once so far; added 4GB of RAM) it will be replaced by a third.

About 8% have yet to own a Mac Mini. Half of those never will (though so far none has posted to say why). The other half reckon there is a Mini in their future.

I'm among the ones that said that has never owned and never will.

I was hoping for a good update for the 2014 Mac Mini to replace my 2008 iMac (on sig), but there a few things that have made me forget that idea:

- Lack of Quad Core option;
- Lack of an Iris Pro (or better) option;
- Lack of user upgradable RAM;
- HDD is harder to replace.

I don't want to BTO RAM and SSD/Flash because it's too damn expensive in Portugal and it's much cheaper to buy from a different seller and upgrade yourself, but it seems that is no longer an option anyway...

Since I think the Mini will get even worse on the next update (I think we will see a smaller form factor with no upgradability at all), I have scratched it from my "possible next Mac list".

I just sold a batch of almost unused 2012 Quad Core Mac Minis for almost the price I bought them two years ago. ;)

But the new 2014 Mac Mini is not so attractive to me. First problem is the OS X. Yosemite is quite unstable and isn't quite attractive on non retina displays. Apple doesn't sell standalone retina displays (yet). Second problem is the downgraded hardware. Although it's still fast enough for most tasks.

I had 3. The original G4, a 2007 Core 2 Duo, and my latest, a mid 2011 i5. All were base models with upgraded RAM. Both early models had larger hard drives installed as well. I was looking forward to buying a 2014 model, but was turned off when I found out it had soldered in RAM.

Last call for votes….. Just over 12 hours to go.

The pattern has changed little, except that the percentage of "never wills" has increased somewhat from recent votes.

2005 1.33 g4

2006 1.66 upgraded to 2.0

2009 2.53

2010 2.4

2011 2.0 quad core server

2012 2.3 quad core

All of the Intels have been very usable. The g4 was a dog. The 2011 (quad) and 2012 (quad) models are the best by far.

I just bought my first Mac Mini last week.

It's the Intel i5 2.6GHz/8GB/1TB version and whilst it would've been good to be able to upgrade the RAM etc at a later date I am happy with it so far.

Amongst other Macs, I'm on my third mini.

First Core Duo model (don't recall the year)
2011 2.5GHz i5 (with the discrete ATI graphics)
2014 3.0GHz i7

Three. First was an '09 that I started using at home. When I bought my first '12, I took the '09 to my office where I installed a KVM switch so that I could share peripherals with the PC that my company provides. I picked up a refurb '12 model after the '14s came out, and used the refurb to replace the '09 in my office. Both '12s have 8gb of RAM and a fusion drive. Love 'em.

I'm onto my second Mini.
My first Mac was a 2012 maxed out i7 2.6, fusion drive, 16Gb (third party). I got frustrated with the GPU, which wasn't enough for my main machine, so I (stupidly) sold it and retreated to Windows land. But I missed OSX so much that I ended up buying an ex-lease Mac Pro for my main desktop. And I recently bought another 2012 Mini for media centre duties. I think it was the last new in box 2012 in the country :) It's just the base model, which is fine for what I am using it for, and I still had the 16Gb RAM that I removed from my original Mini before I sold it.

1. 2010 2,4 GHz which I upgraded to 8gb RAM and put in my old Kingston SSD disk. Ended up selling it just a couple of months after purchasing for the same amount I gave for it including the price for new RAM and SSD with a little profit. I used it as a HTPC but felt it was to clunky and I probably had needed a bigger SSD drive on it for it to feel more like a "main machine" but didn't feel it was worth the price to install a new SATA III disk (500gb) in a SATA II machine.

When I get the funds I'll try to get my hands on a 2012 version but they are insanely high in price in Sweden right now on the 2nd hand market.

Interesting that this thread has been resurrected. I have open opened the poll again. You can change your vote now too, given that some may now have owned more Mac Mini's.

I am still on my second. My first was the 2005 original and am currently using an early 2009 model.

I haven't owned yet (flirted with the 2010 but returned it as the monitor set up did not work.)

Regret not picking up a 2012. When Apple releases a quad core, SSD mini I will jump, just hope I can use my 2013 27" as a monitor by then.

Not bailing, recent events almost pushed me away but Apple did right by me so no reason to leave.

Watching and waiting.

I just bought my first mini this last Monday. It is the 2014 base model. I went with the base model because it has similar specs to any computer I have used since 2010. Since my habits haven't changed any, decided anything more would be wasted money. Not even sure if I feel like going to the hassle of installing and SSD in it right now, since Sierra seems pretty peppy even with the 500GB HDD.

As far as overall Macs owned, this is my second one. I own an early 2008 white Macbook that use to run Lion. Bought it back in 2014, but have since upgraded it to 3gb of ram and replaced Lion with Windows 10 Pro 32-bit. I originally bought it just to toy around with OS X, and I really liked it, but didn't have much money for a newer Mac, until recently when I noticed the Mac mini was cheaper than the System76 Lemur that I bought two years ago (yes, I am a Linux convert).

My wife will now be taking over the System76 and giving her laptop to her mother who needs one. I'll be keeping the old Macbook since it works just fine as a laptop, and I like playing with Windows 10 as well.

I bought a Refurbished MM(late 2014), 2.8GHz,8GB Ram, 256SSD from the Apple On-line Store with AppleCare in June, 2015 and I bought a Refurbished MM(Late 2012), 2.5GHz,4GB Ram, 500GB HD from the Apple On-line Store with AppleCare in December, 2013.

Both Machines are presently serving me well but I would not now buy any Computer with a HDD as the MM(Late 2014) with the SSD is "one-hell-of-a-beast".

3 x A1176 Core2Duo
1 x A1283 Core2Duo
1 x A1347 Quad i7

I quite like the "bulkier" original design. A machine of that size, with an internal PSU would be good.

Just one, the 2.3 ghz 2011 model upgraded to 16gb ram and with an ssd 128gb
Cause I am worrying that this mac will become obsolete this year i am planning to renew with a 2014 model

My first mini I got in 2007 (new)
My next mini I got in 2017 (used)
My first "Mac" I purchased was a Motorola clone.
All my other 4 macs I've owned in my life were purchased used. The other 7 macs I've used belonged to my employers (photographers).
I'm Apple's nightmare.
