... i currently own an iMac G5 (isight) 20" which i use as a main computer (audio production) and a Black MacBook C2D that i recently bought as "on the go" computer.

To me it's great to be able to have both computer since i have the desktop at home with the big screen and large hard drive and use the laptop during classes (uni) and while traveling.

I also get tired of sitting in my comp. chair and i can take the macbook to bed with me! :D

how about you guys?

None for me (yet). My new MBP is my first Mac and definitely won't be the last... :)

Apart from my TiBook, a 24" iMac, a Quadra 800, a Quadra 650, a IIci, a Plus. The Plus isn't really mine, though. It just lives in my wardrobe, with a copy of "Vinegar Soup" on top of it.

My 12" Powerbook is my life, but I technically own ("possess in some place, somewhere") an iMac G4 first-gen, and a blueberry iBook G3 first gen. Don't really use either, though when at home I sometimes use my mom's iMac G5 (also first gen... lol, we tend to be early adopters here)

I've only ever owned Apple notebooks. 4 iBooks and a Macbook. Currently I own 5 computers: 2 iBooks, 1 Macbook, 1 PC notebook and a PC desktop.

I use the Macbook. My wife uses an iBook, the other is kind of a project right now. The PC notebook was the first computer I owned, destined to become a family heirloom. Our desktop PC is basically used to dump Tivo recordings, MP3s, and photos.

I don't really have a need for a desktop mac, never have. I possibly will, in the future, if Tivo ever adds full blown native support (not holding my breath on that one).

Zipo. A desktop mac would be useless for me, I need something affordable I can run Quickbooks and the latest games on (not that I'm a "gamer" but I do like the occasional games like HL2). If they included a decent video card and a way to port Windows to Mac without buying Windows, they'd have me full time.

I've got a Sawtooth Powermac G4 to compliment my macbook. It's not getting much use right now but I'll find its purpose soon enough. No mac will go unnoticed in this household.

in use - 1, the eMac.

I'm pretty sure out in CA in storage i have a couple - Quadra 610, maybe still my SE and a Performa something. Everything else we've disposed of I think. Oh, the laptops might be out there too - the original Mac Portable (luggable), and a Black Powerbook (?) the 170 I think. The MacII went i'm pretty sure - the video fried on it.

But, here in my house in FL - just 2, iBook & eMac.

After getting my MacBook, I decided that I needed a 20" iMac (Buying :apple: products is an addiction I've found out recently). Anyways, I love them both and I can't believe it took me so long to switch.

Cheers!

After selling my absolutely perfect PowerBook G4 1.67 GHz to buy a MacBook Pro and getting a lemon, I have to say it'll be a long time before I buy another Apple notebook. My MacBook Pro shipped with a dead hard disk drive, easily fixed. 2 weeks in the screen started dimming randomly, got a new screen. A while later the screen started playing up again and all of a sudden I got like 20 dead pixels in a column down the screen. Once again it went back to get the screen replaced. When I got it back the screen was bent and leaking glue. That was it for me I got it fixed again and chucked it on eBay. 2 weeks after I sold it on eBay the buyer contacted me to say the screen had died again. Oh and I forgot to mention this whole time the case was warping. Great notebook!

I'll be sticking to desktops for now and at home I currently have an iMac Core 2 Duo, an iMac G5, and finally a Mac mini Core Duo.

how about you Desktop/notebook users?...could you live with ONLY ONE? of the two?

i could live with the notebook only, but i'd need an external display, and a HUGE ASS external Hard Drive. I don't mind the keyboad...i LOVE notebook keyboards! specially Apple

I have a iMac Rev. D 333.256.6 might still keep it for the occasional classic game or get ride of it and get a faster older mac.

I had a Performa 550.

And my current main machine a Powerbook (see sig. for details)

I would like to have an external LCD but lack of money and procrastignation prevents me from purchasing one.

Maybe in the future I might purchase an older G4 Powermac/iMac for classic games and such or perhapes an Intel iMac but I am waiting for Adobe CS3/4.

that might be part of the reason. I dont know, theres something about the way mac os looks, the keyboard, and the office software that doesnt make it work. I just burn dvds and do work on my pc and do everything else on my mac

Well, we've got 3 here right now. Down a bit from recent times. Will likely have 4 as soon as Apple releases a new machine that really catches my interest.

Right now, I've got a Mac Mini G4 1.25 GHz with 1 GB of RAM a Combo Drive and 40 GB hard drive.

And, an iBook G4 12-inch 1.33 GHz with 1.5 GB of RAM a Combo Drive and a 40 GB hard drive.

I've got external drives attached to both systems for additional space.

Then, there's the old standby 333 MHz iMac G3 with 288 MB of RAM a CD-ROM drive and 13 GB hard drive.

Those are the 3 Macs that I haven't wanted to part with over the years. I've had better systems (as in more powerful and more recent G5 systems), but they had so many problems that I decided to get rid of them and go back to my older systems.

So, that's what I use now. Awaiting something truly impressive (to me) for my next purchase. Got my sights set on a future revision of the Mac Pro. Hope they make some nice bumps by the time I'm ready to buy. I like the current ones. But, of course I (like everyone else) want more processors, faster processors, and as much as I can get. Oh yea, I want it all for $1.

Of course, I've had numerous older machines as well. But, the ones I listed are the ones that I couldn't bring myself to get rid of.

Holy crap. I wish I could afford more than one mac.

For me it's just my 14" iBook G4, got it as a gift from my dad when I got my Montessori teaching certificate. My hubby has a 12" iBook G4, but his is only about a year old. Mine's about 3.

When my computer starts acting up I'll look into one of the newer versions. So far no problems (knock on wood). Thought about one of the desk ones (what is the correct terminology?) just because a very large screen sounds wonderful.... But what will I do without my notebook??

I am/was a proud iMac + iBook combo owner. But as of today, I've got a C2D 2.0GHz MacBook! :D Just gotta prep the iBook to be shipped out.

Could I do w/out my iMac? Not sure, I really used to strongly favor desktops. But lately? I'm starting to appreciate my laptop more. So wait a few weeks, then we'll see if I still prefer my iMac to my new MB. :D
