Are you staying with Apple or did you leave?

I got away from PCs in 2008 (thank you, Windows Vista - the *only* good thing you ever did), and got my first Mac - Mac Pro 8 core. Finally died on me about 2 years ago.

I prefer the stability and UNIX underbelly of OS X (Well, soon to be macOS, I guess), so I don't see myself switching away from it anytime soon.

If Microsoft did something similar - made UNIX the base of its OS like Apple did - they *might* lure me back, *and* they might even have fewer viruses that run on it. I know Macs aren't virus-proof either, but they sure have a LOT fewer issues than an equivalent PC.

I'll give Windows 10 credit - it's a nice upgrade from Windows 7 (which was one of their best OSes in recent years), and so much better than that crap Windows 8 interface.

I'm more platform-agnostic these days. I used to be pretty gung-ho about Apple but I'm not a fan of the direction they've been taking with Mac hardware (non-upgradeable RAM, glued-in batteries, proprietary SSDs, etc.) lately. I got a Dell Inspiron 7559 for Christmas last year and it's been pretty good; I especially like that you can access the insides by just undoing a single screw and almost everything is upgradeable. Plus it's got a quad-core i5 and a GTX 960M which beats the snot out of my cMBP.

I'll still hang onto my cMBP for as long as possible but I might replace it with another PC laptop if and when it dies.

UNIX is no more / less inherently secure / stable than Windows. People keep insisting UNIX is more secure / stable merely by "being UNIX". It's not. Windows is just as stable / secure as UNIX.

I like Apple for their overall design, everything feels fluid between devices and I like the workflow of Apple designed applications more so than Microsoft designed applications.

I do like the feel of Mac OS more than Windows as of current but not always, I made the switch to Mac exclusively in the Vista days and Microsoft hasn't released a ground breaking OS to convince me to come back. Windows 10 is fine, there's nothing wrong with it and my PC is a powerhouse for gaming. The fact that I can change out the hardware as needed is nice, but I'm not so much of a hobbyist that I have to have a computer to change out the hardware. I'd rather stick with being a software hobbyist.

My Mac is great for making music and writing apps but pales in comparison to my PC when it comes to overall power. I have a late 2012 iMac fully loaded, but my PC has a liquid cooled i7-5820k @ 4Ghz, 32 GB of RAM, 512 GB SSD + 4 TB 7.2k HDD, and a 6 GB 980Ti Seahawk (lc gpu). Sometime in the future I'll upgrade to SLI 1080 Ti, but as suggested that won't be for a while.

As for my Mac, I'm probably good for another 6 years with it before I decide to get a new one.

Yes the newer black cylinder, trash can, whatever it's being called.

I have 28 Mac Mini's, 6 - 27" iMacs, 6 - various MacBooks/Pros, 10 - AppleTV's, 10-iPhones all in the last few years and I get more attention from them since I bought the black Mac Pro than all the others combined.
If I were to feel disgraced it would have been prior to buying the Mac Pro.

If you don't feel disgrace then more power to you.

I'm heavily invested in Appe's ecosystems and will never stop using their products.

Windows isn't even a serious alternative - it's just terrible on all devices.

I recently bought a 5,1 and I am still in the process of upgrading it. I love it. Not sure what to do after the 5,1 dies, but I will probably stick with Apple. Microsoft hasn’t made an OS that doesn’t annoy me, and I don’t think they ever will. I don’t expect them to.

I like the idea of the new Mac Pro, but I still had mine when it came out, and once mine died, I just didn't feel like it was a good value to buy something that expensive that's 2-3 years old. I've been saving up for a new one, and I sure hope they release one *sometime* this year - my Mac Mini is great, but I really prefer the power and speed in the MP for recording my music and doing my Photoshop projects.

Once I get it, my Mini is becoming a full-time Ubuntu server...

I dunno, I've been using both side-by-side for months and honestly I'm not noticing much of a difference in daily use. I still use my Mac for syncing my iPhone and iPods though since iTunes doesn't integrate with Windows Live Photo Gallery or even Microsoft's Photos app.

Didn´t answer, as none of the choices were adequate. I´ve been an on/off Apple user since 2007. Every time I change to Windows, I end up regretting it. My last PC were a high-end X99 system.
As of now, I´ve no intentions to go the Windows-way again.

I ditched Apple for my personal use when they ditched PowerPC. I had an iPhone 4 for a few years then iOS 7 came and it couldn't "establish a trust relationship" or some such thing with my Linux boxes so now it's Android.

U could state as "other" although I didn't put that down.

what's the difference between:

• I'm with Apple until the day I die
• I'm with Apple no matter the situation

In the first scenario, you stop using Apple after you die.

In the second scenario, you continue to use Apple even after death, either in the afterlife or if you become the undead via a zombie or vampire bite.

Now I wonder if the undead are capable of using TouchID.

Sad to say that I'm really enviousness of PC computer offerings these days: ADK custom-built for audio, and the HP Z series computers are incredibly powerful, with that section of the HP website which includes a "Mac to Z" menu tab that makes the 2013 Mac Pro seem anemic in comparison to Z series computers.

Clearly, Apple doesn't care. When you have Pete Brown from Microsoft, as an active member over at Gearslutz as Psychlist1972, Apple's code of secrecy can stuff it! Pete is really listening to the needs of musicians. Apple is.... (fill in the blank.)

Got a 2012 tower the second the trash can was announced to give me time to figure it out.
