this year (including yourself) and say who:

15 yo daughter, 12 yo daughter and my wife all want one. I sort of do too but I'll put in my vote as 3.

Thanks - Greg

Funny you posted this poll, I just sat down for a Bday party for my mother-in-law with about 16 adults in the room the question came up about what the iPad was all about. I am one of 5 Mac users in the family so I just sat back and listened to my brother-in-law talk. He is a graphics professional who has been a Apple user for more years than I can count. After about 10 mins of him describing it, it became a fairly popular topic as several of the older 50+ crowd had not heard of it.

If I were to list the who...

I voted 5+ as I sure the following stated they will buy one (or two)

Myself as a mobile device to complement my iMac
My wife to have a larger device to surf vs her iPhone
Brother in law
His son (late 20's working)
His daughter (college age)
My brother
Mother in law as she has wanted to replace here very old laptop

These are the people I am betting will have one by the time we all get together again for the 4th of July.

My 3 kids all want one of their own, in fact, everyone should be experiencing the joy of having a child with processing disorders that include zero concept of time.... and just TRY to explain to her why she can't go buy one NOW. She can't imagine what 60 days is.... (she's 10 btw), nor figure out she doesn't have the money to buy one.

I see 2 in the house by the end of the year. I'd *like* one, but it's not some urgent need for me at all. My Touch meets my needs, and i'll be able to use the kids when I need it.

The oldest has a birthday tomorrow - and that is all she is asking for...

When my wife saw what it could do, she was ready to toss her MacBook. We are both just very casual users and the iPad could definitely replace my HP mini and her 2 year old MacBook.

So, we'll probably end up with two iPads in the house by summertime. :)

Three out four of my immediate family will get one before the end of the year I imagine. Probably only me on the day it launches. The person who I left out bought a LG Renoir without my supervision that he doesn't understand how to use.

No one in my house wants one, but that's because we already have too much digital gear we don't use.

I'd like to know how many will be buying one for each kid that wants one? If my kids want a $500 device they have to raise the money themselves. The price of hot cocoa (sold in winter at the lemonade stand) just went up I suspect. ;)

My Girlfriend want's to buy one.

I am gonna get one maybe after rev 2. (holding out for webcam and Flash)

Although she does not live with me, I might buy my Mom one.

If it was for "fun" - then they'd have to save up/help. Our first one will be for educational purposes, and will be replacing a daily used iBook that is dying a slow death. The kid is getting it for her birthday tomorrow.

Well, not really huh? LOL!!

How many people in your family want an iPad?

Conducted the poll and found "0" wanting iPad, but "2" requesting a new MacBook, and "1" requesting a new iMac desktop.... Sorry no iPad requests here....

My girls will be paying for their own (paper route / part time job) unless we kick in $100 towards it as their birthday present.

No one in my family has expressed desire to get an iPad. And I'm fine with my iPhone, I wouldn't carry an iPad around with me so it wouldn't get much usage.

In my semi immediate family at least 7 that I know of... Extended family probably 10-12.

I suspect half that many will actually get one in the next 12 months.

I want one, and my fiance wants one. The two dogs are happy with anything that gives them more room on my lap / feet / legs. ;) Though I have to say the Labradoodle makes a good macbook pro cushion. So I voted two.

Outside that little family unit, my step mum wants one, and my little step sister who is eight wants one. But she wants (and usually gets) pretty much anything "new" and "exciting". She's the only eight year old I know with a dsi and a ds who uses them both at the same time !

I want one and so does my wife. We both have an iPhone 3G currently and a Macbook.

I have been promising my wife one for a while, she wanted to spend $400 on an ebook reader but from all the iTablet rumours, ebook functionality seemed pretty concrete so I convinced her to wait. I'll get her a 16GB wifi version, should be sufficient for her.

My iPhone 3G 8GB is maxed out from 50mb of photos, 300mb of songs, no videos or podcasts anymore and a ton of apps. While I want one, not sure if I've got the money in the budget for it this year. If I were to get one I would get one with 3G as I'm on the road constantly, and to ensure I have ample space a 64GB would be the best decision.

Both my wife and I want one. Not sure if we'll bite when they are released or wait until the second/third version.

Definitely need to see one in person before making a decision.

I voted 2, because if I get one, my wife will "break" the asus netbook. "Honey, I think I need an iPad"

It surprises me how much people seem to want one (maybe more in US?).. All I've heard so far is that people don't see the additional use of it..

Edit: Zero here by the way. There is one more Apple (mac, not iPod) user in the family, who is really into music and missing to much (like multitasking) on the iPad to find it useful. I myself totally don't see the use of it to me, got this iMac and getting an (used) Air tomorrow woohoo! =)
