Okay I'll bite.

I'm in the UK, and £25 one-off payment to get 12 months of service with 1GB a month from 3 sounds like you've got a hacked SIM or you're not telling the truth or you're mistaken or something. I presume you're not lying and are not mistaken, but seeing as 3 don't offer that tariff anywhere, it's just unbelievable. So... what happened there?

Well then, that makes me feel a little better. I thought that sounded a bit too good to be true.

I have an iPad 3G with the unlimited plan as well as a smart phone and pay for 2 plans. Why? The tethering works okay depending on where you are located (I have sprint service) but it also kills the battery on the phone in less than 2 hours and you can't talk on it while it is tethering. For an extra 30 bucks a month the iPad data plan is well worth it.

I just got my iPad 3G yesterday, I also have an iPhone 4, 3GS and a 13" mbp.

I see no reason to miss out on something going on because I have limited myself to only one 3G service.

The 3GS is sitting unused right now though as it will probably eventually become my work phone.

I have an iPad 3G 64GB (2GB data plan) along with a 32GB iPhone 3GS with "unlimited" data.

I bought the wifi-only iPad on launch day only to find that it didn't get much use when I wasn't around wifi (which was most of my working day). I sold it and waited a few months, recently getting the 3G model. My iPad now gets used frequently, every single day.

At first I wasn't sure if I'd use it at all, given that I have the iPhone, but the increasing array of HD highly functional apps has proven quite enticing. The iPad has also paid for itself already in daily business use. I used to think about replying to an email on my iPhone and would say "Nah, I'll wait until I'm near a larger keyboard". With the iPad I don't hesitate to write relatively long emails and documents, even using the onscreen touch keyboard (which I'm slowly growing fond of). :)
