Once the irvine store calls me with phones in stock...it will be my first.

You do realize that they don't actually need iPhones in stock to replace your iPhone right? They have a separate refurbished stock just for replacements. Take yours in and they'll have one for you.

on my 7th iphone but 6th for tech reasons.. i had a 16 then switched to a 32 thats why i say 7

the issues in order..

gps
-then
unlevel glass screen
-then
bricked when jailbreaking/scratched the screen..itunes couldnt recover so i exchanged
-then
PERFECT PHONE but dropped it and nicked the bezel to hell --(this exchange pissed me off!)
-then
power button was depressed
-then
right side of metal bezel was very sharp.. actually took a little skin off

-now

now the one i have seems to have a wobbley power button (slides back and forth slightly and the home button seems a little mushy, so im going to deal with it til around end of october and exchange it for a brand new one @ bestbuy, so far all of my phones have been brand new out of bestbuy stock and their policy is u have 30 days for return or exchange so.. im going to wait til around october 25 to exchange this one.. and if that one is messed up then ill wait another 20 something days yeah its a pain in the ass and some may find it annoying BUT i had to pay full retail for my phone so i expect it to be perfect!

is this a joke or the truth?
You are clearly gaming the system because how are you getting a new phone when you drop your old one, jailbreaking it, scratching the screen, i dont get it.

unlevel glass screen? depressed power button? wtf

I think there's medication for a depressed power button. However, sometimes that medication can cause the power button to become more depressed and even result in the power button committing suicide!

This is literally disgusting. You don't honestley believe that you should get replacements because you messed your phone up jailbreaking do you? It isn't even possible to brick an iPhone by jailbreaking anymore. And you scratched the screen/scratched the bezel? Thats your fault. Suck it up.

Yeah but the genius said they didnt have any and the store would call me when FedEx came.

ok, i was hoping the thread wouldnt turn out like this...

Its fine if you want to drop your phone and return it to apple, just try not to speak of it here =) You do whatever makes you happy. I dont personally do that, but to each his own.

Back to the topic...

Now i dont feel like im being a leech to apple. I mean, i baby'ed my iphone to death...screen protector, otterbox...and the camera went out on my first..and the sleep/power button on my second.

This one feels solid though...buttons feel new...the silent switch seems like its the only thing that got any use on the phone.

after seeing how many you guys have had, im guessing the iphone just isnt as rugged as people say.

iPhone: 3 times, wi-fi dead, chrome bezel not good, screen issue
iPhone 3G: 5 times due to crack on plastic, will replace one more time due to the same and the battery is failing.

I still have my 3GS from launch day. The battery has been driving me crazy, and I also have an uneven bezel. I brushed the bezel, and I'm afraid if I try to take it in they'll say that's what did it.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3GS (White, 32GB): Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7A341 Safari/528.16)

I've taken my phone in with a brushed bezel before. Nobody cares. ;)

had my 16GB 3G changed today, due to cracks on the back, one near the ringer switch and one near the dock port, nothing major but they still replaced it, although the new one only had OS2.1.2 which was disapointing and took ages to update and restore.

the cracked plastic back is a problem, particularly on white ones (mostly because its easier to spot on the white), but other than that, theres no real issues. Think about how many iphones have been sold. Even if every case you hear about on mrumors makes up a small percentage of all cases, thats still an very small fraction of a percent failure rate. All manufacturing processes have failure rates, and the iPhone has a pretty low failure rate.

When you ask to hear about the problems, youll get so many responses that it seems like the problems are much more widespread than they really are
