I just joined the club. Even before the M1 came out, I was disappointed with my early 2020 MBA i5. My 2015 MBA, which preceded it, actually had better battery life, performed better and rarely turned on the fan full blast. Plus, I noticed the battery full charge is now down to 89% of design capacity after only eight months. My use case was the same for both machines. When the M1 came out, I was interested because I knew that it would inherently be better. The reviews bore this out so I had planned to upgrade in the Fall. Seeing that the current trade-in value for my early 2020 MBA is attractive and it's not likely that the MBA will be refreshed this year, I've decided to pull the trigger. This time, I went with more RAM and more storage as I plan to keep it for a while. I also don't know what the requirements are for all of the apps that are being converted to Universal. Also, the potential to run IOS and iPadOS will probably mean I'll have more apps running simultaneously and I need more storage :) Looking forward to the new machine scheduled for Feb 4th delivery...

Sold my late 2013 MBP 15 and 2018 MBA for a base M1 MBA. The 2018 was supposed to replace the 2013 but could never live up to the task.

Update: My trade-in now shows that it is being inspected, after saying before that it was cancelled. This is consistent with what the Phobio rep told me. Waiting to find out now if I will actually get the original value that was given when I purchased my M1 MBA when I ordered it on Dec 1.
Well, believe it or not, I just got an email that I am getting the full trade-in value of $350 that was originally quoted when I ordered the M1 MBA back on Dec 1. Phobio received my MBA on 1/5, so it took them about 2 weeks to process the trade-in, and roughly 5 days from the time fedex said it was delivered to even show it as received. Between the time the 14 day trade-in window ended, and the time Phobio marked it as received, the trade-in showed up as canceled on Apple's website, which was the primary source of angst for me.
