@jbachandouris what exactly in my post above makes you angry?

Just trying to be helpful.
The point was not the price. The point was that my post for sale was totally IGNORED. No contacts. No lowball offers. Nothing. And do you really think I didn't check the prices? I DID! $500-550 IS the average, or at least it was 2 weeks ago when I first listed it. I am most annoyed that I listened to the advice to sell instead of trade and now I don't even have ONE offer for it.

Where all have you listed it for sale?

Facebook marketplace?
Swappa.com?
Craigslist?
Offerup?
Mercari?
eBay?

I do see you listed here on Macrumors marketplace. That's going to be a very small audience - and mostly folks who probably are looking for different/higher-spec systems since MR tends to attract the more techie folks. Plus you used existing listings as a gauge, it's tough to see what stuff actually sold for - same for craigslist and similar. You just see what folks list it for and most often if you still see it listed it's because it's not yet sold.

Try the two wholesalers I mentioned. I recently sold my 2018 MBP15 to MacMeAnOffer.com for a good price - well above Apple's offer. My early-2020 MBA is on its way to CashForYourMac.com right now as their offer for that one was higher the MMAO's. I've used MMAO before and always had a good experience; and enough people have said good things about CFYM that I figured I'd give them a try.

I've sold Apple Watches and phones on Swappa and had good success there.

I got the new Air, even if I have a 15 month old 13" MBP (the 2 TB port version, low end MBP). Just had to get rid of the touch bar (after trying to get used to it for more than a year).

Haven't sold the MBP, yet. Unless someone in the immediate family needs it (at a bargain), I will sell it soon.

Sold my 12” MacBook (m3, 2017) and I’m planning to purchase a M1 Air (256 GB ssd, still undecided about the RAM)

Sold my mid-2018 MBP15 i9/32/1TB Vega 20 which covered new EPP M1 MBP13 16/1TB + $150. Extremely happy with the power and smaller form factor though missing the larger display and 4 ports - had to rearrange my cable setup to use the left ports - been using the 2 right ports on MBP for power for years.

Looking forward the new M MBP16 next year.

I was going to sell my 16" but after using the 13" for a few days I think I'm going to return it. It doesn't have anything to do with the M1 itself as I think its fantastic. I just don't particularly like the smaller footprint of the 13" model. i find it uncomfortable to put on my lap as to me its just to small. I also don't like the smaller screen. These are things I was worried about before I purchased it and it turned out to be the case. I'm 6'6 and weigh about 215lbs and the smaller size of the 13" just feels awkward to me so its going back.

i'm a "big guy" too but the 16inch footprint is just absolutely insane. sweet spot would probably be a 14inch MBP if they ever come out with one.

I would be on board with a 14" for sure. I don't mind the screen size as much as I do the narrowness of the laptop. the 13" is just not comfortable for me to hold on my lap while I use it.

Nope. 16 is still way superior. Runs windows.
Gross! ;)

So I tried to sell my 2020 Intel MBA on Ebay and locally via Kijiji and got nothing but lowball offers less than the Apple trade-in price at the time. So I traded it for a factory-sealed PS5 and sold that on ebay (not a scalper normally but looking for a way to recover some of the $700 Cdn I was about to lose on a 6 month old laptop) and ended with about $80 less than what Apple is selling that model for on their refurb site, so worked out in the end. Was a hassle but kind of fun too.

For those who did the apple trade-in as part of your M1 order, does the 14 day window to turn in the device start when you place the order? I placed my order for a M1 MacBook Air on Dec 1 and the trade-in kit hasn't even shipped yet. They offered $350 for a 2015 MacBook Air 8GB 512 2.2GHz i7. Haven't been able to match it anywhere else. Getting through to Apple to ask them has been impossible. I didn't get an option to trade-in at a store.

They usually ship the trade in kit when the new device ships, and you have 14 days from when you receive the trade-in kit. So you will have time to decide whether to return the new device and keep your old device

Ok, that's perfect. I was worried I would have to ship our old device back before getting the new one. Thanks for the reply.

Traded my MBP 16" to a 3rd party (itsworthmore.com) and they gave me $1700 for it. Paid $2300 for the MBP M1. $600 for an upgrade. I'll take it.

Hated that 16" MBP with a passion.

Also busy selling my MacBook 16” base, after purchasing the MBA M1.

Do you notice a difference between the 16" and MBA M1 keyboards? I have the same machines but the 16" feels more tactile. Wondering if it's just me

They offered me $300 Canadian for my 2013 MacBook Pro. I might have got a little more selling privately but frankly it doesn't feel worth the time to me. I'm entirely satisfied with that.

Itworthmore.com offered $155 U.S., and I don't even know if I could send it across the border.

Mind you I haven't packaged it up and sent it back to Apple yet. I guess I'm just making sure this M1 Proworks as well as it seems to, ha!

I purchased a MBA M1 16gb / 1 TB and been using as a desktop Mac mini. I have already a Callidigt TS3. Soon as the new 2021 MBPro 16 M1(X) comes out, ill be trading the 2019 MB Pro in for whatever I can get , right now it says $1200ish.

Pudget released a benchmark about m1 vs desktop. Let me say from my experience pudget is wrong. This m1, is a complete game changer, it feels instant. The M1 Apps are nothing short of what we all been waiting for. It was like going from HDD to SSD.

Ubuntu 20.04 will run on the MacBook via docker.. it is the last piece I needed and it landed the other day.

Gaming? $24 for 6 months for Geforce NOW. I have not turned on my windows PC since then. I **may** setup it up in a closet to host locally or KVM it.. that's it. Work wise I want to use the warp speed M1.

Just sold a 2014 MBP for $300. Given that the computer is coming up at the end of its useful life, and the Air is only $600 more, it's a no brainer to upgrade. If it turns out to be a poor decision, we'll upgrade again next year for a nominal fee and get a better version :)

My MBP 2016 13 with 16 GB was a fine machine. But with the MBA M1 (base model) i feel more comfortable, no fans and perfect for 24/7 always on usage.

I switched my 2018 mbp to m1 base air in a heartbeat!

Why? Not because I need the m1 performance even though it’s nice. It’s because Macbook air is my fav laptop because of the tapered design. No hard and sharp edges digging on my wrist when I use it.

I only do logo design work as my primary job and only play openemu old school games, so definitely don’t need that much power of the m1, just loving the air tapered design.

I can now finally switch to the macbook air because the screen’s color gamut has the same quality as the macbook pro lineups now. It’s important to have this for graphic design related work.
