Hope you are right :) When mine says "out for delivery" it means next working day due to the dumb way TNT is organised. If only they'd use DHL or UPS!

Guessed a Scouser would come and have something away :)

Seriously though. Bummer. This is also what pees me off with Apple's poor logistic service (compared to what one sees happens in the US). If you get something DoA or not quite right you have to waste even more time getting it replaced and waiting equally as long. Hope you can shout at them and get a resolution.

Yeah but don't companies deem up to a set number of pixels as exceptable?
I believe Apple's specs are either up to 5 dark pixels or 3 light pixels (or a combination of 7) are acceptable. This is quite standard for all LCD/TFT manufacturers.

Although this gets blurred a bit because they usually also take into account the position of the dead pixels, so if you had a few right in the center they'd be more inclined to replace it than if the pixels were around the edge of the screen. With one dead pixel I doubt they'll replace it unless they're in a very good mood.

Try massaging the pixel. This has been discussed before on this forum.

I've given it a quick massage but will try a few times. TBH it's hardly noticable with it being black and only one pixel.

All my previous displays have been perfect though, guess I'd been lucky until now

two hours later and it's pretty hot, much hotter than my powerbook ever got. The bar above the function keys is very hot, you can't hold your fingers on it for too long without it being uncomfortable. I have had it sat on top of the cloth bag it comes in so have put it straight on the desk to see if it cools down.

All I've done so far is format the drive and start a reinstall so nothing too intensive.

It is plugged in though.

I have always had bad experiences with TNT with new products, but with products that are a few months old it seems fine. Maybe it's the extra load? Still, I went to the shops and bought my MBP the second one of the stores had them in stock, and while I got mine a week or so after most people in the US who ordered them, I got mine a few weeks before most people on these forums in Europe who ordered one and complained about the delivery time. I always buy new products from the store as soon as they have them, I seem to get them quicker. Anything that's not new I order online.

So it came yesterday! :)

And it's going back ASAP –*the latch is not working properly: the one on the right hand side doesn't click into place and allows the right side to open up when I pick up the MBP.

I can go through this whole process again now, since they've ordered me a "high priority" replacement.

Other than the latch it is a blazing fast machine. It got hot above the F keys, but not excessively so. No probs with the screen – it fairs very well against my 20" iMac screen.

Although "high priority" appears to be a relative term:

Estimated Shipped By May 24, 2006
Estimated Delivered By Jun 1, 2006

assscat, I know how you feel!

I had terrible problems through MBNA, so the apple store told me that they would have my order shipped out as priority. The estimated date was the 16th according to the Apple store, but TNT keep changing between the 19th and 22nd. It currently says 22nd despite ariving in Amasterdam at 8am this morning....

Has anybody contacted the UK Apple store about a refund following the price reduction? I have sent an email but not had a respone yet. I couldn't find a similar 14 day price guarantee statement on the Uk store web site.

Yes, I phoned Apple on Tuesday and the sales rep said no problem, £100 refund on my credit card.

But… since my first MBP was DOA, I am still waiting for the replacement. Only when that arrives will the cash actually be refunded. If the MBP delivery is delayed beyond the 14 days, then he said I don't get the refund! Weird policy…

Assuming you have your MBP in hand, getting the refund should be no problem.

While I was on hold to Apple I received an email saying that they will
refund the difference :)

Should go some way towards buying some more memory - has anybody ordered
any, will probably go with crucial but just checking my options.

Seems to be moving a bit quicker than the first shipment. Hope this one is okay!

So far mine seems fine apart from getting rather hot.

Well no updates to the TNT tracking, so still looks like it's stuck in Shanghai.

I've emailed the apple store through there online form to see whats going on. When I ordered it I was told it would be with me today, and the estimated delivery date appears to be slipping daily with it still aparently not moving from shanghai. At this rate it would have been quicker to wait until the local John lewis had one in and nip over for one in my lunch hour...

Pete

Its NEVER faster to wait till John Lewis get them in. I used to work at the Southampton branch, trust me, this is one example of a company sooooo not equipped to handle electrical goods.

It takes around 4 days to transfer from a local warehouse only 1km away to the branch itself, then maybe a further 2 days to get one up to the shop floor.

In the cut throat, high priced, fast paced world of consumer electronics, John Lewis treat DVD players and stocks of iPods with the same priority as packs of pencils and picture frames.

Well i'm waiting on my second replacement MBP and as there has been a model upgrade i'm getting the 2.16Ghz and a £100 refund and they threw in a USB Modem too. I kept on at them and have been moved from priority 2 to 1 and they have shipped my replacement today with TNT. I fully expect this unit to whine and have poor build quality too.....I really don't know why its so hard for them to get a straight keyboard and a lid that closes flush?! I also decided to go for a glossy screen as this is now an option and I found the matt one looked a bit washed out. Well here's hopeing I get one of the few perfect units!

All replacements should be priority one! I called Apple last Saturday to report my DOA MBP and the replacement arrived today. Not checked it yet, though…
