Just wondering how many people downgraded back to 3.2.x after using 4.2 for a little bit. It is an incredibly good build, but I'm not sure if I'm liking the bugs I'm finding. On the plus side, once 4.2 Beta 2 comes out, it should be a little better.

So I'm thinking of holding out till Beta 2 before I make a final decision.

I am a developer, but currently not working on anything due to time constraints :-(.

Not me, finally having folders and multi-tasking is priceless!

Im loving 4.2 but there are a few little bugs. My email crashes a lot which is the big one. I really wanted 4.2 just for the folders.

Are you guys/gals developers, and can you request something regarding folders for us?

I would be MIGHTY thankful if Apple would make it possible for us to sort/organize photos that are stored in the iPad's "Camera roll" (in the Photos app) into folders or albums -- ON the iPad, itself... rather than having to connect the iPad to my computer, sync the photos, import them to iPhoto, organize them there, RE-sync them back to the iPad, etc. etc. What a long process that is!! It would save me so much time if I could simply select individual images ON THE IPAD from the Camera roll thumbnails (as is already possible), AND then have an option (via a dialogue box, or whatever) to create a new folder or album on the iPad in which to store them.

I submitted this feedback over the phone to a Product Specialist long ago, but haven't heard that it has been implemented in the iOS 4.2 beta. So, would appreciate it greatly if y'all can help with this request.

Thanks so much!

Honestly, it's not like we have more say than you have. So it won't make a difference whatsoever. I've been clamoring for custom text message sounds for 3 years, and still nothing

The two main issues with 4.2 right now seem to be no access to the 3G account button, and some third party apps don't work.

Not a chance of going back. Ipad so much better on 4.2 even with the few bugs. Missing my skymobile though which doesnt work noe

I don't know. I'm thinking of going back, but nothing right now has stopped working for me thats a deal breaker. I'm not sure what to do. I'm so torn. LOL.

Only thing that worries me at this point is the lack of 3G account access. I'm going to Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta in October and thought about bumping up my access since I'll be there for 6 days. When not traveling, 250mb is more than enough, but on the road I'd like to go to 2gb, esp. if I'm using Google Maps when chasing balloons.

Maybe we'll see another beta release between now and Oct 4th. That fixes it :)

Otherwise, the benefit of folders and multitasking for me outweighs the lack of 3G account access and the odd app bug.

I believe that if at worst you absolutely have to change it and Apple doesn't release a new beta that fixes the 3G settings bug, you could call AT&T or stop into an AT&T store and they could change it for you. Even though there is no phone number associated with the iPad they should be able to look it up by either your name or your SSN and change the data plan for you.

It seems most of the problems with the beta have to do with the 3G iPad. I have wifi only, so in that respect I'm pretty good. I think I might just hold off, as we got another 11 days or so till beta 2 (my best guesstimate :) ).

Like I said, mostly everything running fine with the exception of a few apps that I never use anyway :).

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

So far I'm liking 4.2 on a wifi ipad. Haven't encountered any significant bugs yet, but haven't had a whole lot of time with it yet. Folders and multitasking are definitely worth it so far.

4.2 has made the iPad so much better, sticking with it for now. So far, haven't run into too many bugs, mostly minor, no show stoppers just yet.

Well Fate has determined what will happen with my iPad. My wifi completely stopped working all of a sudden. Then I try to open settings and it crashes. Rebooted multiple times. One time it did open but it said no wifi available. LMFAO. Too bad I can't restore till tonight. I would definitely recommend not installing this beta if you are going on a trip without your laptop.

That stinks. I haven't seen wifi issues (yet) but maybe I've been lucky. So far seamlessly connects to both work/home wifi the past two days.

When you restore tonight, can you check the device logs to see what the worst crash offender was? (If you are using XCode, it's Window --> Organizer to see the device logs for you iDevices). So far the only crash I've had was with Mental Note for iPad. I've been watching the logs since the 4.2beta for any low memory issues and haven't come across any - just the single crash.

Sure, I'll check for you when I get home :). Yea my wifi has been working perfectly too up until today. :-(

Edit: Strangely enough it's working again. But I can't take this chance anymore.

Gave 4.2 a chance 3 times but I'm back to 3.2.2

Had Wi-Fi, Mail & RSS App issues. I can wait for November.

In regards to the cellular data apn settings. In the iPhone it also has no option for cellular data with certain carriers such as Vodafone when on iOS 4 and above.

In theory the sim should suffice at providing carrier info.

The iPad has an accounts button for viewing your data usage and changing plan or billing. But that's missing in 4.2 beta, that's really the issue with 3G in beta 1.

Those who don't have 3G not working just type unlockit.co.nz on your safari and you can create a profile. This will activate your 3G. (illegal sim)

Had the same issue. Got settings open once, but haven't been able to get it back open. WiFi just doesn't work. The one time I got it open, I was able to turn Wifi off, and on, and get it working. Next day, not working again.

Hopefully Beta 2 will be better. =/
