I'd love to go back but I can't. The current 4.2 is too buggy, apps crash, no 3G etc. I expected bugs and was fully prepared to restore back to 3.2.2 if I couldn't use it. Well I tried but XCode is telling me it can't downgrade the baseband, so my iPad is stuck with only accepting 4.2.
If there isn't a fix by next week I'll take it into the apple store to have them replace it if they can't restore it either.

Good luck with that! They won't replace it for that - part of the developer agreement is it's installed on a DEVELOPMENT device - you should be prepared for bugs!
Anyways, restoring down is EASY there are already plenty of guides here
It is a development device, but it's useless for even that if the apps just crash! I've actually had the advice to take it back from Apple as I have followed their instructions to downgrade over the phone and it didn't work.
Restoring down isn't easy in this case, something has gone wrong and nothing I've read has fixed it.

I don't have the 3G iPad, but on the WiFi restoring down to 3.2.2 was the simplest downgrade I have ever done. All I did was click restore in iTunes, and I was golden.
I suspect that the 3G is the problem, I have a colleague who also has a wifi that had similar experience. Since it's being reported as a baseband problem I suspect the wifi doesn't have this firmware ( no baseband as no 3G ) and this is where the issue lies.
What happens when you try to downgrade? You should get stuck in some sort of recovery mode, and then use iRecBoot to fix it. I've done this with my iPhone's numerous times.
That's exactly what is happening, except no tools I've tried have been able to force it out of recovery mode. I tired umberella and iRecBoot and neither worked, I just get stuck in the recovery mode. I have had another tool suggested, so I'll try it, but I'm not holding out much hope.
I've borrowed another iPad that I can use for a couple of days so I'm not too stressed, but need to sort it out soon.
These bugs are somewhat annoying but I'm going to hold on until beta 2 is released. Anyone know approx. date?
As an update I did end up finding a tool that managed to kick the iPad out of recovery mode last night ( after many attempts. ) and after comparing with a friends iPad I know what the issue is. The baseband firmware appears not to be downgradable so I have 4.2 modem software on a 3.2.2 software iPad. Hopefully the baseband doesn't have any bugs in it, but if it does I guess I'll be finding them
how is everyone downgrading their ipads? I just bought a brand new ipad and updated to 4.2. never jailbroke it or anything. is their a walkthrough somewhere?
My wifi is spotty. it keeps disconnecting and the wifi icon disappears. sometimes settings crashes. i have a 16GB 3G iPad
