Hi, i'm 15(turning 16 in november) and is thinking about getting an iphone when i get a job. Setting that aside, how much do you pay a month and what are you paying for?

I mainly text, email, browse the internet, not much calling.

thanks, danny.

Unlimited data (required) = $30
Talk time (lowest available) = $40
Text messages (1500) = $15

About $85 + taxes. If you have any extras (early nights and weekends, etc.) it could be several dollars more. Based on that, I usually pay around $100 per month.

There's already a thread for this :(

and at 16, you don't need to be spending money (esp. monthly) on an iphone plan. unless mommy and daddy are paying for it.

I'm stunned at how much you guys pay in the US!

I pay £25/$40 for unlimited data, 600 minutes and 500 texts...for an extra £7.50/$12 I can have unlimited texts.

Good for you for thinking ahead to see if you can afford an iPhone before making a contract for one.

I would suggest that you consider saving your money for college.

If you just want to have a touch based device, then consider getting an iPod touch. Expecting a new model to be released in September.

I'm on a $49 Telstra cap + $10 data per month on a 24-month contract, which gets me:

$49 cap = $200 worth of calls, texts and MMS to any Australian phone + $50 worth of calls, texts and MMS to a Telstra mobile per month (so, ultimately, $250 worth of calls/texts a month).
$10 data = 180MB of data per month.

My first bill also included a one-time charge of $395 in addition to my first month's service/data fees to start paying off the handset (16GB 3GS).

The prices are pretty sucky for what you get, especially the data - other carriers offer many GB's per month - but Telstra is the only network available where I live.

So I'm looking at paying at least $1811 by the time my contract expires. It took me almost a year of fulltime working (ie: 8 and a half hours a day, 5 days a week) to be able to seriously consider taking such a plunge.

And prices are in Australian dollars :p

I bought a 2nd hand 3G from eBay and use a month-to-month rolling contract costing £20 in the UK with 600 mins, 1200 txt and unlimited data (O2 SIMplicity plan) - this is about $33 (but includes tax). By the time apps requiring the extra grunt of the 3GS come out I'll be able to pick one of thise up 2nd hand as the next gen phone comes out.

What country are you in?

I too am 15 and I'm getting a prepaid iPhone 3GS 16GB for £440, after that the unlimited data is free for a year and I can choose to have free minutes or free texts (how many I get depends on how much I top up) and of course you will still have the credit to use on whatever you want. I usually top-up £10 (so it's £10 a month) and get 300 free texts and use my £10 credit if I need to make calls or something.

E-mail is of course free because of the data.

You can also get a 8GB 3G for £350 and get the same deals.

$3 a day

So you could say it cost's $3 per day. :p

My costs varies pretty much every month.

Unlimited dataplan=14.90e (1meg bandwidth)
150texts=5.90e

+ phone calls

I pretty much use IM's and email with my buddies so not much phone calls every day.

Usually it's like 25e/month.

To answer a few questions:
- I know I am pretty young, but I'm pretty much set for college(by my parents).
- I live in the United States(Las Vegas, NV to be exact)
- I don't have to pay for a house or anything cause I'm only 15 turning 16. So I figured I'm going to work 3 days a week, Friday night, Saturday night, Sunday night(during the school year) at somewhere that pays $10 an hour. I can work 5 hours each day. You get paid bi-weekly at most jobs so thats $150 each week, a little less than $300(because of tax), and around $600 a month. I don't want to spend my whole check, which is why I made this topic.

~$150.00 for two iPhones, 1500 texts each and 1400 shared minutes.
Do you live in the US?

$99 - Nation Unlimited Voice
$30 - Unlimited Data
$20 - Unlimited texting
+ 20% discount

My bill should be around $120...even though last bill was $200 but that was due to prorated charges n such.

$40 - 450 w/rollover
$30 - Unlimited data
$5 - 200 texts
$9 - taxes and fees
-----
$84

I'm thinking about dropping the text feature and just paying $.20/txt. I never send or receive texts anyway. That will bring it to $79/mo

I was paying $64/mo before, so the marginal cost is just $15. And when my wife joins my plan later this month we will share a $700 minute plan for $70, saving me $5.

I pay £15 a month for unlimited texts, 800 minutes any network/anytime, unlimited internet, unlimited internet on USB dongle as well. All with Orange UK, god I love my unlocked iPhone :)
