Hi, i'm 15(turning 16 in november) and is thinking about getting an iphone when i get a job. Setting that aside, how much do you pay a month and what are you paying for?

I mainly text, email, browse the internet, not much calling.

thanks, danny.

You don't need an iPhone at 15 o 16. You want an iPhone which is much different. However, to each there own. Some will say you are too young, others will say, it builds character by giving you responsibilities and making you work to pay for it.

Truth of the matter is, its up to you to decide what's best for you and have your parents advice with you in all cases you can.

That being said:

$39 Voice 450 Anytime
$30 Data Plan
$5 iPhone Text 200

$74 + taxes

However, because a FAN# Account, I get a 15% discount of my bill. So it ends up being more or less $65 / month and to that add the fact a have a CLL2 giving me an extra 200 text a month for free.

Here is my latest bill... I have unlimited data, no text messaging plan (pay per message - never use it though), 450 minutes of peak calling with rollover, and 5000 minutes nights/weekends.

Monthly charges:
450 Minute Individual Plan: $39.99
iPhone data plan: $30.00

Credits/Adjustments:
Work discount (15%): -$10.50
Regulatory Charge: $0.77
Federal Universal Serv Ch: $1.25

Govt Fees:
9-1-1 Service Fee: $0.75
Sales Tax: $3.85

Total Amount Due $66.11

98.47 with taxes. 450 minutes unlimited text.

Bought the phone outright from Vodafone NZ (NZ$1379 / ~US$933.86)

I'm on prepaid and tend to use NZ$24/m (~US$16.25) which includes 600 domestic TXTs and 120MB of data. The great thing is I'm not paying for stuff I don't need. I don't make many calls so most account plans don't suit me.

Data is bloody expensive in NZ...

I pay $AU63/month (~$US52/month) for:

-$150 credit (around 2 hours of calls if I use it just for calling, or 600 text messages if I just use it for texting. I tend to use more calls than text.)
-Unlimited calls/text to phones on my network at any time
-300MB data
-32GB iPhone 3GS

To answer a few questions:
- I know I am pretty young, but I'm pretty much set for college(by my parents).
- I live in the United States(Las Vegas, NV to be exact)
- I don't have to pay for a house or anything cause I'm only 15 turning 16. So I figured I'm going to work 3 days a week, Friday night, Saturday night, Sunday night(during the school year) at somewhere that pays $10 an hour. I can work 5 hours each day. You get paid bi-weekly at most jobs so thats $150 each week, a little less than $300(because of tax), and around $600 a month. I don't want to spend my whole check, which is why I made this topic.

Do you live in the US?

If you get an iPhone under contract, not sure you can get it for less than $75/month.

Nationwide 450 Min Plan $39.99
iPhone Data Plan $30.00
200 Min Text Plan $5.00

Total $74.99

Want more texting? Most young people do.....

Unlimited $20 Month Add $15 to above
1500 Texts $15.00 Month

There may be ways to work around some of the fees, for example if your family is on a Family Plan with ATT and you want to add the iPhone, you may be able to 'spread around' some of the costs.

EXAMPLE -
Individual Unlimited Text = $20
Family Plan Unlimited Text = $30 ( so if your plan has 5 lines as ours will that will be $6/phone line )

Honestly, it would probably be best to go to an ATT Store and discuss the plans with them. Everyone on here may be paying different fees based on different circumstances ( employer discounts, programs, and other options )

I opted for an individual plan for now because I needed to replace a broken phone. the rest of my family is under contract to T-Mobile until November 7,2009. On that day I will convert my plan to a 5 line Family Plan.

The irony is that my TOTAL COSTS will be about $40 lower after the switch for the 5 lines.

I always bought toys with my first jobs. I say go for it, get the iPhone. Enjoy frivolous spending while you can :)

Once you get to your Jr/Sr year then ya youll want to save for the extra college expenses that your parents may/may not cover.

I used to pay $75 + tax for one AT&T line with an iPhone 3G.

Call (450 min.) = $40
Data (unlimited) = $30
SMS (200) = $5

I've just switched to a family plan with the second line for my wife. Haven't gotten my first bill yet, but it should be like this.

Call (550 min. shared) = $60
Data (unlimited x 2) = $60
SMS (200 only me) = $5

i think you should just get an ipod touch for 200. use wifi to text and surf. when you wanna make a call use skype. your limited to wifi. but where i live thats just about everywhere. including many of the places people hang out. heck even mcdonalds has wifi these days.

Let me just tell you, If i had to find a wifi spot just to surf or watch videos on my iphone, I would find it such an inconvenience to the point that i would just give up and not even do it.

So thats not a viable option as far as im concerned, Having the 3g to surf etc anywhere is what its all about.

£0. Lucky enough to have one as my work supplied phone. However having owned one for a few weeks, I would quite happily buy one, I have never owned a piece of kit that is just so useful and enjoyable to use.
