I just got my 1st bill for a 2 phone family plan. Since AT&T prorates the bill for the month, and charges a month ahead, I'm looking at $303 bucks for the first month thanks to BS activation fees and government surcharges.

Next month it should be $139.99 + tax.

A lot of people here are applying the 15% FAN discount to the total bill but you should check on that. FAN discount can differ from company to company but it's usually 15% off the rate plan, not the total bill. So if you have the 450 minute plan its ~$6 (39.99 * .15) off your total bill which is better than nothing I guess.

Should ask them to waive the fee. Call in and ask nicely. :p

I thought this too, but after receiving my first bill (prorated, one month plus 7 days) the discount applied to the total bill. My total bill for the first month plus 7 days (which they calculate by using 7/30(average days in a month) and multiplying by your rate plan) was $100.69 after taxes and fees.

$89.99 (450 Minutes w/ Unlimited Data, plus $20 for Unlimited Text) * .85 = $76.49
Pro-rated 7 days = 7/30 (.23) * $76.49 = $17.85
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Total before taxes and fees = $94.34
Add about $6 taxes and fees (normally would be about $4.50 for one month)
And you get a total of $100.69

Which means the 15% FAN discount was applied to my total bill, not just the rate plan. :) BTW, my FAN is for Georgia State Gov't (Education).

Well that's good to hear. My FAN discount hasn't kicked in yet but I hope I'll get 15% off the total bill. That would make it totally sweet. :D If I don't, I guess my FAN sucks compared to yours. :(

I was definitely pleasantly surprised. :) I hope your's kicks in soon, what causes them to be added immediately or take awhile? The FAN actually makes my monthly plan pretty reasonable considering I'm getting unlimited data and text, plus 450 minutes with rollover that I should never use up, for about $80. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for and I have no problem paying $80 for my iPhone. Especially since I was coming from Sprint and a Treo 700wx (WM5, which sucks!).

You might as well try to add the bonus 200 minutes and maybe change your currently txt plan to 1500 txts for 8.99 with the codes to sweeten the deal. I have those 2 codes added and with the discount, it will be totally worth it paying ~$70/month. Then there's rollover & free mobile to mobile with AT&T so my cellphone life is going to be good. Ahhhhhhh. :)

I have a family plan.
My mom and I both have 3G's, and my dad has a moto Q (because he hates Apple..)

3 of us have 700 minutes to share*
Unlimited texting
Unlimited Data
--
$170.

*YES, that sounds like a very low amount of mins for 3 people, but in all honestly I don't talk for more than 150 mins a month (because I do mostly all of my communication with texts, as well as my parental units, that's right- I have parents who text) and when I do it's usually on weekends where I get Unlimited mins. My dad doesn't talk for more than 250, and my mom doesn't talk any more than 300. So all in all it works out.

By the way, there's this great new site called Google.

;)

I will try to add the U200 code for 200 Bonus Minutes, although I doubt I ever use my 450 so I don't really need it, but I guess it could be useful if I ever start using my cell phone more (for voice that is). I don't think the TMS4 or whatever it is for 1500 Texts for $8.99 would work for me, as I am a pretty heavy texter. Does AT&T charge you for incoming and outgoing texts, or just outgoing that you sent? If it is the former, there is no way because I send 750 texts in a week sometimes, but the latter might be a possibility after I gauge my usage after a month or two.

I'm in Canada with Rogers:

My 5 Nationwide unlimited to 5 numbers
450 anytime
Free evenings and weekends starting at 6
6gb data (aka unlimited)
2500 text messages
1000 Long distance minutes

$85 a month

Howdy ya'll :D

Accordin' to the website of them good 'ol boys at AT&T, you can get 450 minutes with unlimited data for $69.99 per month. Take note that this does Not include text messages. You will need a separate plan for text messages.

$39.99 450 minutes
$30.00 unlimited data
$8.99 1500 text
--------------------
$78.98 subtotal
That's almost exactly what I pay each month, except I only pay $4.99 for text msgs. The other $4.00 is for taxes and random fees.

Charges for both incoming & outgoing txts.

Ha! Guess again. We've had a President in the White House for the past 8 years that sounds like an uneducated yokel.....and we're still here.

Just admit you were being an ass ThunderSkunk...it's ok...we'll forgive you.

Ok, I'll guess again. What do I do for a living? Who are my clients? I guess I really have no idea. Why don't you tell me...

Our presidents incoherent bumbling and the perception of our nation in the eyes of the world is an interesting direction to take this discussion. Whose side are you arguing here? Hahaha...

No, make no mistake, I am indeed a total ass. It comes with the territory, and I've settled into it like an old boot. I desire no forgiveness of any kind.

family plan:

Mainuser:iPhone 3G-Unlimited DATA, and unlimited TXT
ME: iPhone reg.-Unlimited data, and 200 TXT
2 other standard phones

(thats 4 lines incase yall to stupid to understand)

A FAN discount also goes a LONG way to cutting down the cost, and you should get one if you qualify.

My Plan with the 1st Gen iPhone:

450 Minutes/1500 N&W/Unlimited M2M: $39.99
iPhone Data Plan + 1500 text messages: $30.00

Line 2: 3G Wireless Data Card: $59.99 - $12 FAN discount

Total cost after taxes and fees: $133.65

My Plan with the 3G iPhone:

450 Minutes/1500 N&W/Unlimited M2M: $39.99 - $7.99 FAN discount
iPhone Data Plan: $30 - $6 FAN discount
1500 Text messages: $15 - $3 FAN discount

Line 2: 3G Wireless Data Card: $59.99 - $12 FAN discount

Total cost after taxes and fees: $134.90

So, while I was initially annoyed at the plan rate increases, now I'm not so annoyed. :)

Trying to make sense of my first bill with the new Iphone.

Before the iPhone I had a regular $40 plan with $8 off thanks to ATT bundle discount (Phone and DSL)

Now, two days before I got the 3G I activated an original iPhone, so there's some prorating between that data+200 plan and the new 3G plan.

What I'm trying to do is make sense of my discounts:
____3-08____AT&T CORPORATE CUSTOMER DISCOUNT____3.60-
____________(where did this pop up from?)

____3-09____Discount for DATA PLAN IPHONE_______________7.40-
____________(appears to be 20% off $37 in data plan total,
____________I thought data was not discounted?)

____3-10____Discount for IPHONE DATA + 200______________0.40-
____________(same as above, had this for 2 days before 3 G)

____3-11____Discount for NATP450RUMM5KNW_____________8.00-
____________(normal discount I always had for my ATT bundle)

What's the Corporate discount? I don't think I official sent them a request to add fan, but I could get it, I have the account number and password, but my work e-mail address never worked through their site, or did it?

Total bill for Wireless:
____Cycle Dates: Jun 18, 2008 - Jul 17, 2008
________Promotions and Discounts ____$19.40CR (above)
________Monthly Service_____________$78.99 ($9 extra pro-rate data)
________Credits, Adjustments and Other Charges____$20.99 (upgrade fee, etc)
____________Data Usage ____________$2.68 (before I had data plans)
____________Taxes__________________$7.12
____________Total Wireless Charges____$90.38

Trying to figure out the normal bill, with no upgrade fee, no extra $9 pro-rated date, or that $2.68 non-data plan usage. Then future bills with $39.99 voice 20% off ($-8), $30 data with 20% off (-$6), uknown -$3.6 corp discount, $3 misc fees, $7 taxes, I'm going to guess a total of $62.39 after all that.

But what's the Corporate discount listed? I can't figure out where it got $3.60 from. The other discounts seem to be 20% off, for data and voice discount. So what on earth is that $3.60 taken from?

Well if you think about it we have plurals for every other type of noun.

1st person:
Me=Us
I=We

3rd person:
Him(Her)=Them
You=???

You all, or Ya'll

All it is is a word that the english language is missing and should be added to the dictionary.

Anyway. I have this exact same question except i want to get an iPhone 3G S when it comes out. I imagine the same prices right?

$90 total

--------------------

$50 for minutes (550, unlimited night/weekend, unlimited m2m)

$10 for my line

$20 for data + 200 texts

$10 for taxes

this is for my mom and myself.... I pay for half of the total bill...
