After reading this I am depressed.

With taxes and fees included, I pay around $75/month.

Yikes, glad my employer pays for my iPhone and service. Unlimited everything (text, data, minutes) for free (to me).

This is why I had such a hard time transferring from a dumb phone to a smart phone.

That is a good tariff and fine if 3 provide decent coverage where one resides and works.

The "free" phone is subsidised through your contract monthly amount.

Indeed. 3 Coverage is fine in most of UK and T-Mobile offer it for a pound more a month on the same tariff (With cashback the phone is still 'free').

Yes, we like to bend over to Big Red and Big Blue.

But what about that pesky VAT you folks have?

That includes VAT. Everything advertised in Europe has to be sold with VAT shown. So if you walk into a shop and it says £22, you will pay £22. Same applies for everything.

We have thousands of rollover minutes, we all text far more than we talk. When we do use phones its usually to another cell phone so we have never gone over the 650 shared peak minutes.

I don't really know what you mean with "Caller Display". I think you mean that you can see someone else's phone number? Well, it's not really like you have to pay seperately for that in Europe: it's included in one package.

I realize 150 call minutes and 150 text messages may seem little, but really... the popularity of 'calling' is dropping rapidly and for texting we use apps like Whatsapp.

Oh, and this plan also includes cheap internet in any country throughout Europe.
Well, I have decided that I'll settle with a sim-only plan as soon as the new iPhone is available. This means I'd have to pay for the iPhone myself (full price), but the monthly bill will be significantly lower.

In comparison if I buy the iPhone myself and go with a sim-only plan instead of a plan where you get the iPhone for $199, than I'll save wellllll over $400 in two years.

2 iPhone 4's
Unlimited Family Text
450 minutes shared call plan
2GB data on each line

I pay $122 a month due to a 20% employee discount from my company. I urge all of you to call or check with your carrier if you get a discount as every bit helps. Bring a paystub to a store and they can check.
