Verizon Wireless over 55 plan.
Unlimited talk, text, and data not including tax, it’s $60 per month.
With my monthly installment for my 8 plus, the total bill is $101.50.
I am saving for my next upgrade, so I can pay cash for my phone.
Plus I’ll get a little discount from Apple when I trade in my 8 plus.

How much extra do the taxes add?

Basically this. I have Wi-fi at home and Wi-fi at work most of the time, and don’t generally stream movies the rest of the time.

In fact I just downgraded from a 12GB data allowance as I wasn’t coming close to using it.
I wish I could be like this. I'm on wifi most times at home but when I'm at work the wifi is so bad (I work at a major airport so it's a given) I just use my data plan. Granted I have unlimited but I wish I could live on the 3GB data plan.

I was in almost exactly the same scenario with T-Mobile and paid off all of my devices and switched to Mint Mobile and now I'm paying like $60 a month for 8GB data and unlimited calling/text for all 5 phones.
That’s awesome! Have retired parents using mint. They’re paying for 12 months of service for an average $15/month. They’re really happy with the service.

The taxes amounts to $5.22. I use auto pay with them to save another $5 a month. I did forget to add, that I have voicemail to text.
That adds another $2.99 a month, so you could eliminate that.
Bear in mind your age. Verizon has a couple of unlimited plans that include Apple Music.
Unfortunately for me, my unlimited 55+ loyalty plan was a cheaper option.
The other unlimited plans added another $20 a month to get Apple Music included.
I instead opt to pay Annually for Apple Music which gives me two months free. ($99).

I have 7 iPhones on my family account and monthly is $400. everything unlimited except hotspot which is limited 15gb monthly for each line.

Ouch. In general the UK is an expensive country but it seems that phone contracts are dirt cheap compared to Canadian pricing.

My network would give me unlimited data, sms and calls for £22 per month on a 12 month contract.

£22 = $39 CDN = $30 US

There are some really cheap deals with certain networks (e.g. three regularly offer unlimited data for £19/month - but it's unusable in London during peak times).

I currently pay £31/month for unlimited 4G data, unlimited calls/text, free roaming in the US/Canada/Mexico/Australia/New Zealand and the BT sport channel included.

£10 more than with Three, but I can actually get speeds of over 100mbps in London!

Telenor Bulgaria
iPhone 11 Pro Max 256GB = 61.50 USD Monthly instalments
Unlimited min, 20GB Data , 10GB Data Apple music, 10GB Data Social networks, 10GB Data Chat (Viber, whatsapp etc. ), 10GB Video ( football, hbogo ), 12GB EU Roaming Data, 400Min Abroad calls
24 months Free HBO Go, 24 months Diema sport ( live soccer,boxing etc. 2 channels ) = 28.50 USD
90 USD in total

Expensive yes but my service speeds are fast. I'm in the Toronto area.

I found when travelling in Europe service speeds were not consistent. There were slowdowns.
Let me know if this is not generally the case.

It might be related to the roaming agreements and how data makes it back to Bell. When I was in Toronto a few weeks ago, I was roaming on Rogers, but my data was piped back to Texas before hitting AT&T. My friend on T-Mobile roamed on Telus, but I'm not sure where the server on the US side was.

Basically, my speeds were good and what I kind of experienced back at home, but every once in awhile, latency would take a hit. I'm wondering if and congestion/coverage issues were playing a role where you visited.

Yeah, but does that include the cost of the your phone too??
That's a SIM only plan, because if you buy your phone with the service provider you will typically end up paying double the street price of the phone, I have no reason to doubt that would also be the case in the US.
Currently my provider has a deal on an iPhone 11Pro 512gb unlimited everything for approximately $100 down and $103 for 24 months, as you can see that works out that you pay around $1920 for the phone and even in the UK that's way too much to pay!
Personally I buy 2nd user iPhones that have a 12 month guarantee and are usually 6 to 9 months old (currently I have a 256mb iPhone XS and my other half has an iPhone X 128mb and we will probably keep these until iPhones are on there 2nd 5G generation (BTW my network already has a large and growing 5G network which is included in the price I quoted.). Why anyone would be foolish enough to sign up to cell company deals is astonishing!

I’m in the UK and there are some pretty good deals out there if you use a third party like Uswitch.

For example, a current deal they have for an iPhone 11 Pro 512gb Unlimited everything is:

£30.99 down and £80 per month for 24 months. Total cost £1950.99

£1950.99 - £1399 (cost of iPhone) = £551.99 - down payment £30.99 = £521

£521/24 = £21.71 per month for the Unlimited plan is a pretty awesome deal indeed.

The question is, if you can afford the monthly payment why wouldn’t you take this deal from a carrier?

You don’t say which network you are using. That might suit me if my needs change.

Currently I am working from home, so my deal of 3.5GB data plus unlimited calls and minutes on a sim only deal (month-by-month contract, not locked in for a year) for £8 with Plusnet suits me.

I'm with EE (with employee discount). I actively chose to pay more just to get away from Three, who's unlimited deals are, rather pointless.

Also look into Voxi. They use Vodafone's network, but since they launched they haven't actually been able to measure the data people use. So their cheapest sim is, effectively, unlimited (although that may change if they ever fix it, they don't seem bothered by it though).

I use USwitch for my upgrades too as they seem to be way cheaper than the carriers directly. The difference for me is if the total cost goes over £950 on a 24 month contract, I don’t even look at it. I think i’ll go the same method come September rather than trust O2 with their silly pretend value upgrades.

Upgrades with carriers in the UK are a total rip off, USwitch or similar pretty much always offer a better deal.

That example I used is pretty much the best deal for unlimited everything going - if you want a 512gb 11 pro of course.

I always buy my phones outright from Apple, and I’ve got an old Three mobile sim only contact that’s £10 a month for unlimited everything, so that is going no where!
