Never had a watch ever before this AW - mainly for 4 things - first and this is small but big I love the haptic alarm, I get up 3 days a week at 5am and in the years I have owned it it has never failed to wake me up and more importantly unlike all previous "normal" alarms it has never woken my partner.

2nd I can swim with it at the local beach then go straight to the beach cafe and have a coffee without having the faff of having money on me or having to go back to the car and change / get a wallet etc.

3rd its great to see the changes in my fitness over the years for Cardio fitness / recovery , resting heart rate (usually around 55) and sleep patterns.

4th I use Siri a lot and for basic stuff like setting reminders, alarms , sending messages or playing music she's good for me.

It has never had a case and I never do anything special with it when I shower or swim in the sea and my job is pretty manual but not a mark - so kudos there Apple ! Well Done especially as I wear it like 22/23 hours a day.

I'll take a look at it, if I knock the watch up against something, say a wall or something, this can happen when I'm running, and the sidewalk gets crowded, but other then that, I rarely look for damage

Only damage on my black s10 is the bottom where the paint is coming off.. not sure whether it's worth trying for replacement under apple care.

I’m sure you’d get a replacement under Apple Care.

The question is, do you want it?

Interestingly, my AW Ultra never had any scratches on it for the entire time I had it. However, with my AW Ultra 2, I've noticed it scratches pretty easily.
Similar use case scenarios, but the watch does bruise easily. At first, it was super annoying, but then I got used to it and now I hardly mind it. My watch screen is flawless, which is extremely important to me.

Usually I am looking at the watch face for new scratches right after I just wacked my watch into something.

I check my watch over closely when I'm in the process of trading in it, on a day-to-day basis? nah.

Had S0 all and I smashed the screen and rendered it useless, about 8 months or so before the S4 came out which I wanted. Got a S3 alu and it's screen and case got dome scratches, most likely while mountain biking.
Got the S4 in SBSS, has a minor scratch in the sapphire, body was flawless.
S7 Ti - flawless til today
Ultra - flawless
Ultra 2 - flawless
When I say flawless, I don't see anything with my bare eyes.

AW is a tool that needs replacing every 3-5 years or so (and yes, some keep theirs longer and others not so long), worrying about scratches/dings etc is a waste of energy imho, YMMV.
