I have the 1st generation iPhone SE right now (basically the same as the iPhone 5/5S) and I love the size and would like to get the iPhone 13 mini because it's kind of the same size, but with smaller bezels and a bigger screen.

But the overall size is perfect. Now I'm just wondering how sure we are that there's not going to be any iPhone 14 mini?

Because I don't want to buy a 13 mini now if there's going to be a 14 mini later this year.

Do you think it's 100% definitive? How sure is it?

Unsure if there will be one, but rumors are the Mini is a bad seller and will be axed.

If I were you, I’d hold out until the 14 announcement just to be safe. You can buy a 13 mini after if they aren’t moving forward with the mini line.

I know it’s been brought up a lot, but I really hope the mini form factor can live on as a future SE phone if they’re not going to make a 14 mini.

No, it's not definitive.

You're just betting against the entire iPhone supply chain. 😆

-One- person with a pretty good track record of leaking future products makes the claim that the mini size will be discontinued- and everyone parrots it until the entire internet believes that the consensus is there won’t be one.

That’s how a rumor works.

There hasn’t been only one source. The mini is also not included in the recent Bloomberg article and Apple has no reason to make its reveal a surprise. The Jobs era secrecy is gone.

Not to mention they’ll probably drop the price of the previous generation phones by $100 like they usually do.

Since the 14 will still be on A15, I don’t see how we even need a 14 mini. It will be just the same phone with more RAM.

No, there will be no 14 mini because the mini lineup has accomplished their mission, to have everyone accept that the base iPhone price is $800 without realizing that that was a price increase from the iPhone 11 to the iPhone 12. Nobody noticed it. Now that it’s accepted, Apple won’t need a mini anymore. Now it’s time to up the ASP again by virtue of the 14 Max.

I can only tell you the current sales figure of Mini is bad

yeah exactly what we expected them to do with the MBA M1 after MBA M2 release ,remember ?

only after MBA M2 announcement, apple increased MBA M1 pricing by up to 150€ .

not saying they are going to do the same with the iPhone (I doubt it but they're capable of such a bastard move) .but imo it's very likely that the 13 will keep its price ,and the 14 increase by ~100$

It’s to do with inflation and is not part of their intended business model.

With the way the economy is going along with current forecasts, I would not be surprised to see a price increase on the 13 by September, lol.

Apple increases price then becomes a part of inflation. IPhone is still mainly from China but inflation in China is still low. Inflation is just mainly an excuse for big companies like oil companies to increase prices.

"Bad" is a very relative term. Even if the sales of iPhone mini really are only a single digit percentage of all iPhone sold, that would still be in absolute numbers something in the range of 10 milion units - a lot more than other manufacturers sold of a single model.

Apple likes to keep a small number of models in Apple stores. I don't see they would release a new mini while there is new pro max. They would still sell mini 13 or 12.

It’s not really an excuse. Inflation was caused by the government due to the currency expansion over the last 14 years, specifically between 2020-2022. This was always going to happen so I am not surprised. The cost of living crisis has only just begun so by the release of the 14 in September, expect to lose another 5% more of your purchasing power. Apple are aware of this so they will price their products accordingly. I sincerely hope they are able to keep the 13 level at the current price like they did with the M1 MacBook Air.

I have another view: maybe just too heavy if putting the new cameras into iPhone 14 mini (say 150-160g) or they may release a new one a few years later when they find a solution to balance between weight and up-to-date camera components. Just my two cent.

But everything is possible. Maybe they will release a new SE (as many think) with only one wide lens and outdated small sensor to make it light enough.

They’ll likely keep the 13 mini available to buy, but it’s very doubtful there’s a 14 mini coming.

Yes, just keep 13 mini is enough. A few years later they will figure out what to do. (SE or next iPhone mini)

With Apple, nothing surprises me honestly.

There won't be a 14 mini.

Why? Because the supply chain leaks have always revealed what the screen sizes are going to be usually months in advance and I don't recall them ever being wrong or missing a device. Not only that, but case makers get the dimensions of devices beforehand and they generally always leak too.

Sure, the final devices may have very slightly different designs/hardware/features but nothing major and the screen sizes will always be right.

There's always a first time, but going by the past 5 years or so, we know generally what to expect.
