I've tried it through EDGE and it's painfully slow and more complicated. Just go to Starbucks with your laptop or another place with a WiFi router.

EDIT: Actually, if your laptop has WiFi, you can do it without a router. I'll have to go home and test this first, I'll post instructions later tonight.

The General, your instructions worked great! Thank you so much...If you could be so kind as to explain the process to get sound on here, that would be great. Or, if you could point to a resource. Your help is MUCH appreciated. You've (by that I mean "your help") made this so easy!

Wow.

I can't seem to get sound working with the NES app yet, but when I figure it out I'll let you know. :)

Preparation:
- In Cyberduck, hit "Open Connection" and select the "SFTP" protocol. Type your IP address into the address bar, then for the user name and password it's most likely root and dottie, respectively. Port should say 22. Hit connect.

I've never had to enter a user name or password to access the internet...what do I enter in these fields?

roms...

hi guys i was able to see my folders in my iphone and created the needed folders but where are the roms files? I dowload the NES app but there arent any separated roms? can anyone help me please.

put them in /var/usr/media/ROMs/NES or something like that (I know the media/ROMs/NES is correct and the var/usr is close might be var/root) someone fix this up for me =p.

sorry to bother you guys again (mainly you general) but when i downloaded cyber duck i entered the ip address in the server bar and entered root as the username and dottie as the password and it thinks for a loong time and then says "error unexpected end of sftp streamt"...am i doing anything wrong?

Ringtones...

I got it working now and got the NES roms in that folder and they work! Only thing is there's no sound. Hopefuly someone will help us how to get this working! thanks for all the help...

now!! i'm sure you have figured this out already but do you realize you have access to add ringtones? All you have to do is go into library/ringtones/
and there add your .mp3 files!! worked great for me!!

I'm looking at the iPhone directory in CyberDuck, but I see no folder called /var

I see:

cron
db
empty
log
logs
mobile
msgs
preferences
root
run
tmp
vm

so basically with installer and cyberduck you can modify everything on your phone easily and without ifuntastic and all these other intrusive programs?

Preparation:

- If all goes well, you should be browsing your iPhone's files in no time. Just go to /var/root/Media and create a directory called ROMs, and one inside that called NES. Put your ROMs in that NES folder.

For instance...

/var/root/Media/ROMs/NES/Super\ Mario\ 3.nes

I created that exact directory, yet I don't see the games when I click on the NES app from my home screen.

Ok, I finally got this going. Got roms on the NES app, custom ringtones, a voice recorder, some Lights Off game. Honestly, if I was able to pull this off, anyone can.

One final question..I assume the Books app is for eBooks...where in the directory would I add the .pdf files so that they are available in Books?

P.S. Thank you for the great tutorial.

Put them in /var/root/Media/EBooks/ :)

By the way, I got my MacBook Pro today. I decided screw the wait, I'm gunna drive north 2 hours to Fresno and buy one. :)

So it'll take a day or two for me to get the feel of how tethering works, and then I'll be able to help you guys if you need it.

Ok, I'm making progress here but I can't find the ROM files. Can anyone PM me and let me know where to find them? Am I just that blind ? lol

You'll have to find ROM files elsewhere. They are kind of illegal unless you own the original cartridge.

Or have I misread your question?

The ROMs need to go in /var/root/Media/ROMs/NES/
