When attempting to install OpenSSH via the Installer, I've been stuck at "Generating Host key" for well over 15 minutes now. Is it normal for it to take this long? It does say "5-10 mins" but I'm just not sure it's doing anything. Any ideas?

This should work ... I can't test it on my phone since it would take like 45 minutes uninstalling and reinstalling programs, or adding all of my apps to the list.
If it doesn't work as planned, let me know. I don't need anything in return, I just like to help out a fellow iPhone hacker.![]()
Everything worked except YouTube and Weather didnt show up in Launcher. I figured that would be a no go anyways. Thanks General!!! I really appreciate the help!
If I were you, I'd use Finder.app instead of Launcher.app.
Finder lists all programs in /Applications ... Launcher seems to pick and choose. If you want to, I'll update your DisplayOrder.plist to show Finder instead of Launcher.
I will try that, thanks General. I think Ive figured out how to mauipulate the displaylist order. I added SMS down to the dock and it made me only have to sacrifice YouTube which I NEVER use anyways. If I get bored I wil try Finder and see if I like it better that way.
Thanks again for all the help!!! Now if I could only figure out how to show a screen shot of what Ive done so far...
I followed all the instructions and I get this error when trying to connect to cyberduck.
Network Error Connection failed
sftp://root@(ip address removed)
Operation timed out
I'm using the ip address next to the "IP Address"
Should I be using the DNS address or something?
I have to use a password to get onto the server should I use that password instead?
Thank you for the quick reply, I'm sooooo ready to get this thing working LOL
Yah I:
Reset my iPhone I have the Icons for the "Installer" and the "Nes" but No icon showed up for the new two apps. I didn't think there needed to be.
I used Cyberduck and Filezilla (I have bother a PC and Mac.) I connected to my wireless (Which has a password) used the IP Address on my phone and name:root and Password:dottie. I tried using my networks password as well but no dice.
1. Put this file in /bin
2. Install OpenSSH and BSD Subsystem with Installer.app if you haven't already done so. Restart your iPhone.
3. Open the terminal on your Mac and do ssh root@10.0.1.189 but obviously put your iPhone's IP address ... it may take a few seconds and you might have to type "yes" before you can type the password which is "dottie" ... once you're logged in...
4. chmod +x /bin/screenshot
5. Then get to the screen you want to take a screenshot of on your iPhone, and just type screenshot and hit enter. It will tell you and save your screenshot in /tmp/foo_0.png
Let me know if you need help with that.
that's nice looking, how'd you get all those graphics / changes to the bottom half of the screen? I didn't realize if you added to the dock it would compress the icon width? Do the touch regions correspond to the icons on the bottom dock (i.e., the middle one has a larger area than the two sides)?
Thats sweet!!!
Here is my iphone...
Wow. This is the first theme I've seen that I actually think might look better than the original. Great job.
Also, to answer my own question from earlier in the thread...the reason the Books app isn't reading my eBook files is because it doesn't read PDF files...only HTML or Plain text...woops![]()
